or Nazi remnants, but they are pretty damning remarks
I'm trying to work out Erdogan's end game. He has obviously given up on joining the EU - so that card won't work any more. He is a hard-line Islamist trying to gradually 'convert' a liberal country. He has made peace with Russia (which is attacking an Islamic country) - wet towel round head time. I suspect that he is looking to a sort of alliance with Russia around his area and seeking a power-base there.
Open to more aware minds than mine. :)
To call the Dutch Nazis is beyond belief. During the occupation Queen Wilhelmina, who intensely disliked the English, changed her mind when King George put her up at at Buck House at no expense.
How dare they decide who enters their country. No wonder this happened later.

Which one, Jourdain?
Erdogan has made a bit of a twit of himself here.....no real need for a hissy fit at all. Silly man !
well the Dutch do live on top of 10000 years worth of Swiss and German merde that have come down the Rhine....

What a daft comment to make and no way is Europe going to contemplate replacing the UK by letting the Saracens in.
All good stuff for Geert Wilders and Europe.
//Pro-Erdoğan paper @yeniakit: "The Dutch army has only 48,000 troops, but 400,000 Turks are living in the #Netherlands"//
Surprised this has garnered very little interest especially when you think about where it could lead.

This to me seems like a storm in a tea cup !
^It's war then.
Just another rabble rousing mouth on a stick dreaming of past glories.

Erdogan is a dictator, and what he is doing to Turkey is very sad to witness.

We should be sending the strongest signals to Ankara that we disapprove.

But May is quite happy to cozy up to this fascist despot.

Of course it's a storm in a teacup: authoritarian ruler throws toys out of pram. It's happened before and will happen again.
The Dutch are not to be messed with tho - when you think of the influence a country of that size has had on the world. Must be high on the all time league table of influence-to-size rankings.
And the last country successfully to invade Blighty of course ...

so something of a storm in a teacup, nasty comments however.
and yes it is sad what he is doing to the country.
// To call the Dutch Nazis is beyond belief.//

erm no not really

one of the metaphors used in the current press for the war period - is German embrace....occupation wasnt that bad for them ( except the starvation winter 1944-45 and the events following the milk-staken )

winter war - or wintersoorlog ( I think ) is worth a look

Resistance Museum - Versetzmuseum
is also worth a vizeet
an ethnic German non dutch speaker said
said hmmm versetz is not really pushing against - resistance
it is more being sat on
O occupation I said - yes said he
there is very little about resistance in the museum and quite a lot about occupation

O black book - swatze boek is also worth a look

and if anyone can tell me where I can get a copy of
de oranje soldat I would be grateful

[ the three goed films about war time holland are
Winter War - Black Book and the Soldier ]

havent bothered to clean up my dutch spelling
no one here does languages anyway ( joke ! joke ! )
// and yes it is sad what he is doing to the country.//

sadder what the Turkish invaders are doing to the fair maid that is Holland - having only just got over the War
good ole Shengen, The captains won't need to join soon, most of them are in the EU anyway trying to convert it to Europistan. The clogs are bang on here but they are fighting a losing battle. Thank Allah for the Channel and A50.
Question Author
