I eat my breakfast alone and like to read while doing so. Are there others doing this and if so please tell me what ways you use to keep your books open.

i find the weight of the stapler balanced across the pages works well. you can move it up or down the page as you progress.

sorry can't be doing with kindles. can see they have a place but have explored them and they are not for me. not yet anyway.

I have a Kindle, and the case I have for it incorporates a stand.
i also have a kindle much better than a book at mealtime
The marmalade jar or the edge of a plate
kindle three!

Edge of plate, I or get the tv remote to put across the pages.
Do now have a kindle which is easier in those situations
Amazon do the clip on lights which will also hold the page
I know they are for Kindles but I have one and it will work on a book as well

Thanks for all your excellent answers. I think my stapler shall be moved from the computer room to the dining room now until I find something just as heavy and perhaps a bit more decorative :-)
Why not invest in a large "Bulldog" clip to put at top of book?

I have found out through your answers that what I need is something flat like a ruler and heavy like a stapler....and about 7 inches in length....any ideas there?????
just get a kindle (go on, you know you want to)
Question Author
I might do that some day but not at this moment in time....
I just use my elbow from my left arm.
There's just something about the smell and feel of a book that I love - especially a new one. Don't think I'd get the same buzz from a Kindle.

I know what you mean Maggie. I also sell my books and the money goes to a friend doing UN Work in Africa which in turn goes to help her housekeeper's granddaughter's education. I couldn't do this with a kindle.
That's lovely xstitcher. I'm a member of "book crossing". I leave books on trains, in cafes etc. with a wee note to pass them on and sometimes (just sometimes) I find out how far they have travelled. Last year one reached Spain.
My mum used to have a perspex stand to prop open her recipe book (in the style of a music stand but for table-top use)
I have a kindle, but still buy books. And exchange them.
Question Author
I'm a member of that too Maggie, but have never had a feedback, so now I sell them.
