cheques between banks

how long does a cheque take to clear from HSBC to Nationwide? I get paid in the middle of my summer hol and want to put the money in my parents nationwide account so I dont get charged for withdrawls. I get paid on the friday but want the money asap so could i put the cheaque in around mon/tues?

The banking system takes 3 working days. (their banking day closes at 3:30 to do it before then.)

The only way around this is either by depositing cash or an EFT (electonic funds transfer)
