Good morning!

Sorry for the delay on this one. Naturally, I have been working on perfect valentines treats that are not only delicious, but postable and mysterious, and this has taken up all my time.

Anyone expecting to be over-indulged over the coming week? Or is it oysters on ryvita?

I've also been trying something called a "slow carb" diet, mainly as a way to avoid being hungry. It's quite good and can recommend building a few of the "beans and greens" rules into your own meal plans a couple of times a week. It's especially good for days after a bit of a treat, where you can be a little too hungry.

How are you getting on?

22lbs smowball
I did not get my post completed islay what I meant to say was after having most of your stomach removed and gall bladder you are doing well but be careful and not go too far .
That's incredible Islay. You must be thrilled!
Ladies I am thrilled but I have such a long way to go, I am obese and have a heck of a lot of weight to shift.
I am also interesed in some more informations about your diet!
It's still amazing progress Islay- you should be proud x
Thanks smowball
Despite going up both Thursday & Friday (resulting in me breaking into the next stone territory) I inexplicable lost a bit over the weekend, and a further 0.4 lb drop over the last 24 hours has resulted in a massive drop of 0.2 lbs over the week. It's so exciting !
Oh and well done to all those who have posted good news. Wish I could match it.
Wendilla well done on your 2lb loss x
OG do you weigh yourself every day?
Yes I agree smowball islay must be proud and I hope she continues to do well but I would like to point out that the diet islay is on is not going to suit everyone . We here at onwards try to eat healthy eating foods plan our meals for the week and write everything down to help with following weeks islay has to follow doctors diets a after an op like that
Every day that I am at my place, yes.
Don't want to put a downer on your loss, Islay, but I too hope that the majority of that weight loss is due to the op. If you lose too much at once, your brain becomes starved of sugars and fats and you'll find that your body will go into 'crave mode' and you'll put it all back on.
You say that you're obese, so it could be okay, but once you are down to just being overweight, take it more slowly, please. Losing weight slowly, up to 3lb per week is the safest way. It gives your brain and body time to adjust to the new diet/regime and you won't put it all back on!
OG as tempting as it is you shouldn't do that because weight can fluctuate so much from day to day ( says me who worked in the weight loss industry for years). Just weighing once a week will show a more realistic perspective
Genuineaclass I have no control over how much I lose a week as I no longer have all my stomach. Yes to confirm what wendilla says, my diet is extreme and that is why I am not sharing it, it is not achievable for 'normal' people.
And that would leave be blind to what is happening all day. Thanks for the advice but I wish to know what is going on. It's annoying enough to noit be able to weigh when I am visiting elsewhere.
...NOT...
LIKE I TYPED !
It was bad enough I had to type it twice because BT lost the connection yet again and the PC decides it is hilarious to lose all the typing I'd done. But then the tech decides to add changes to the retype for a laugh.
What I mean OG is that if you weigh every day you can become obsessed by it(I've done it). A gain one day to the next doesn't mean weight gain -could be you've just drank more etc.
Yes genuine A that is what I was trying to explain. ISLAY I hope you continue to do well and keep us imformed how you are doing

"Can you tell us more about the slow carbs please"

Yes! That's beans and greens, no beer, glass of red wine in the evening if you must. You avoid "white carbs" such as:

Potatoes
Rice
Bread
Pasta

and:

Sugar
Fruits - except for the occasional lemon, lime, avocado or tomato
Most dairy

As someone who doesn't like to be "full" all the time, this has been a bit of a challenge. I certainly feel heavier most of the time, even if the scales say otherwise.

I only do a few days of this a week, and my cheat days often extend over a couple of days :)

But I do feel better, energy gets released throughout the day a little slower (I feel, might just be in my head) and coming off the sugar has done wonders for my snacking. Weird how you don't miss it.

We usually have some sort of bean based mean for dinner with salad and veg. It's not exciting, but it works!
