Onwards and Downwards Continues in June

Hi Everyone,

We were looking forward to the warm weather in last month's thread, well we got it didn't we?

Interested to hear about Jan's new wobbler and whether it does the job. Has anyone else done any unusual excercise recently or in the past and has it worked or was it just a bit of fun?

Here is last months thread

Welcome aboard Islasmum...you hit the nail on the head about needing inspiration when the novelty of loosing weight wears thin. This is our strong point that we can help you get focused again. I hope we will work for you.

You have to be very careful of fruit while you are trying to loose weight. I go by Rosemary Connley who lets you eat fruit as your breakfast meal and I "think" as a dessert now and then but never as a snack.....although a handful of raisins is what I have for around 11 or dried cranberries...just a few mind you and it seems to be okay.
Notafish it will tell you on your medication . I did find this out. It has been said not to take milk with any medication preferably water.
Maidup I always use 100% pure unsweetened grapefruitjuice. Did not like it for a start but like it now in fact I don't think I would like the sweetened one.
I tend not too eat too much fruit because of the sugar content but I do have loads of veg.
I use 'my fitness pal' which, based on my height, current weight and my target weight allows me 40g of sugar against 90g gda.
Thanks Wendilla, I didn't realise that no medication should be taken with milk. I often take tablets with a cup of tea, so I'll stop doing that.
Interesting reading on there roobidoo.

It was stated in the medical journal about milk with medication and was mentioned on tv.
Found this

Drugs that have this warning will form a chemical bond with calcium (also magnesium & other metals) in the gut & prevent the drug from being absorbed into your bloodstream (and actually working!).Heed this warning & avoid milk & other dairy products for 2 hours before and after taking med. Also avoid antacids and vitamin/mineral tabs at this time.
That is good to know Wendilla...thanks..
Thanks all. I use MyFitness Pal too but struggle to keep under the sugar level which for me was set at 30g.

The grapefruit juice is pure, fresh unsweetened, but still has 18g of natural sugar per glass. I might try switching to fresh lemon in water and see how I get on with that instead. Scarily sharp!

That will leave me enough allowance for a yoghurt - 6g, a piece of fruit - 10g and some skimmed milk/soya milk which also has natural sugar in it -10g, and 4g for a tomatoes and salad stuff or maybe the tiniest dot of honey for my lemon drink!
It's rather scary to see how much natural sugar is in fruits- also a shame as I much prefer fruit to vegetables - will have to see what they recommend at SW tomorrow.. Anyway I weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lbs since last week, from just being more careful of the foods I ate.
First SW meeting tomorrow - looking forward to that!
SW says eat as much fruit as possible and veg
For health reasons I'd not recommend fruits' natural sugar content scaring you off having as much as you want on a diet. It's the extra added stuff you want to minimise if anything. But remember any dried fruit will have a higher proportion of sugar since it is left behind when the water goes. Same amount of sugar in a lower volume/denser fruit = larger percentage of sugar.
That is right OG and welcome back hope you had a nice holiday
:-) It was more a period of getting chores done than relaxing, but it's good to have progressed further on some tasks, thanks. (Pity to be back at the desk really. I think it's high time the younger folk in the tribe took over the reins. But that's what breaks do for you eh ? No doubt by the end of the week I'll be back to normal work-wise.)
Good Morning All, and good to have to back again OG. You are the only rooster in this coop of hens so you are always missed.
I'm down a pound this week would have liked it to be more but it's a case of the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Any how two weeks away from the naughty step and I'm beginning to feel homesick for it.....not.......
Am looking forward to the posts from everybody..onwards and downwards....
I am not going to say only but I was hoping for more. I have been really good for 10 days apart from some malterers last week and a drive through macdonalds cheese burger for lunch yesterday first time in about 2 years . My daughter and I were out on business and did not have time to go for lunch as had to be back for her son from school. 1lb loss. I just have to be content that I have lost and keep carrying on for a better result next week
Well done Xstitcher. You always seem to get back on track when you get back home.
Onwards and Downwards.
Congratulations xstitcher , wendilla and islasmum.

I'm 1lb down today - happy with that as I had a couple of blips this week. I met a friend for lunch during the week and the options were limited. Then I went to a family Sunday lunch which was Ok to a point but I didn't resist the homemade dessert - ooops, and I had an absent minded moment yesterday when I had to give a visitor some lunch at work. I ended up in a cafe with a toasted cheese sandwich and some crisps! No!

I'm OK when I'm left to my own devices and as I don't have any meals out planned this week, I hope to do better.

Thanks for your advice on the daily amount of sugar everyone. I tend to eat fruit in the mornings and with lunch so I'll continue to do that and just make sure I avoid the products with added sugar.

Good luck today everyone.
It's ridiculous. During the week away I ate more than I ought so I expected to be up a little, but to my surprise, come this Monday, the scales claimed I had lost ½ lb since I'd last weighed.

On both days since, despite eating at around target input, it has gone up ! The God of Diets has a strange sense of humour. Over the last fortnight the scales claim I've gone up ⅝ lb which I suppose is believable, I just don't know why it's all been in the last couple of days.

(Until you mentioned it I hadn't noticed I was the only male contributor here, that said, it reminds me it's not the first time I've been the only male in a group. A few decades back when I last had a bash at losing weight I joined an aerobic exercise class held weekly at the town hall. Most weeks I was the only male there.)
Well good for you OG even though you hadn't expected to go down. I have found that language classes are also very low in male participants, having gone to Spanish for quite a few years. There was never more than one man to a group of 6 and even then they would usually disappear before the class was finished.
Well done everyone. You all seem to have been really good this week. I've been wobbling away this week quite a lot but despite that have put on 2lb so am very disappointed. I do seem to notice a difference though in my clothes as they seem to be getting much too big and have had to buy some new ones in a smaller size so maybe the wobbling is working but showing in inches and not in weight??
