Onwards and Downwards Continues in June

Hi Everyone,

We were looking forward to the warm weather in last month's thread, well we got it didn't we?

Interested to hear about Jan's new wobbler and whether it does the job. Has anyone else done any unusual excercise recently or in the past and has it worked or was it just a bit of fun?

Here is last months thread

Welcome aboard Islasmum...you hit the nail on the head about needing inspiration when the novelty of loosing weight wears thin. This is our strong point that we can help you get focused again. I hope we will work for you.

Well done Jan. As you have lost a lot of weight now you will begin to slow up a bit .1lb is always a 1lb in the right direction. Keep wobbling.
Hello All, After a day and a half computer break down I'm here again. I have gone down a pound since Sunday of which I am thrilled. I must admit that I lost the plot lately but am now back on track. Like Wendilla I look for lo fat content....6% and under, lo carbs and let the rest take care of itself...well not really but they are the two main nasties I look out for. I am doing my morning exercises faithfully again also so my halo is shining brightly. I understand OG is away for a week or two and as our only man will be sorely missed. Onwards and downwards everybody.....
Well done again Jan...just wondering if you warble as you wobble?????

Wendilla is right that it does slow down but as long as you are going down be happy and proud...you are our shining example here on O & D.
Hi - may I join the thread please? I'm starting at Slimming World next week and am absolutely determined to lose weight - and keep it off this time. I'm trying to be more careful about what I eat, and have lost 2lbs since last week, which is a good start. It would be nice to hear how others are getting on, and I could definitely use some inspiration when the novelty of slimming is wearing thin!
Thanks xstitcher and yes, I do warble while I wobble. Sounds a bit strange but fortunately no one else can hear me.

Welcome islasmum, I'm following SW but not actually going to classes as I had my old books and then recently bought new ones on ebay. Seems to be working for me at the moment so good luck with yours.
Can i add....that these vibroplates aka wobblers DO WORK....

I worked in a shop that had one and used it....big inch loss with customers,- doing certain movement on it really helps too....

Good luck guys xxxx
Thanks Tinks. I have to take it easy on my wobbler because of my ankle but I certainly think it is making a difference. x
Welcome islasmum and good luck next week. I've lost a stone since March but I did have a couple of weeks recently when nothing more shifted. This week I lost a pound so I feel back on course.

Carbs were my weekness but I have better control over them than I used to. Now I'm looking out for the sugar content of things and trying to understand whats good and whats got a lot of hidden sugar.
Jan the lowest setting on some is good for rehabilitation apparently!!!

And even placing your hands on the feet bit and doing arms etc

Good luck all :0D xx

Welcome Islamum .A lot of people have found that coming on here has helped them. Even though they still go to slimming classes. Xstitcher and myself have been here for over 2 years trying to support people and also get support for ourselves which we need too.

Tinkerbell thanks for the info on the wobbler as we don't know about them therefore can't help anyone out wwith replies on them. Jan seems to be doing well with it.
Good morning all. This is my first visit to Onwards and Downwards. And last night was my first visit to Slimming World. I'm feeling very inspired.

I've put on loads over the last few years after developing back problems - a combination of lack of exercise and medication. But when excess weight noticeably aggravates joint problems, then something needs to be done.
Welcome Kiki we try to give our ideas and welcome ideas. It is so easy to gain but not so easy to get it off again. I have a glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice every morning and that helps to break down fat but some people on medication cannot take it . Write everytrhing down and plan your week. Hope to see you next wednesday with a weight loss. Onwards and Downwards

Hi All,
I have also directed a few to this thread as a support group rather than a slimming club. So maybe next month I will add in just a quick line about what Onwards and Downwards is about so that people have more of an idea. Hope this helps.
Thank You Ed as that is exactly what we are A support group.
Well done to all who have lost weight, and welcome to Islasmum and Kiki.
I have lost a pound and a half this week. I put it down to going to Tenerife for a few days and the hot weather put me off my food. My appetite is back to normal now. I'm going to try to start each day with a hot water with a slice of lemon. Someone recommended it so I will see how that goes.
Well done Notafish. Be interesting to see how the water and lemon goes. As I said I have unsweetened grapefruit juice but that don't suit everyone that is on certain medication.
Oh yes, please let us know how that water and lemon works....I wonder if it might help at the "hungry feeling" times, like an hour before dinner..
Yes, I'll stick to it and let you know how it goes. I do love grapefruit juice but I'm not sure which medications react badly with it, so I don't risk it.
Do you know, Wendilla?
I DO know that you're not to take iron tablets with a glass of milk, but have no idea about grapefruit juice. I'm also on Thyroxine.
Does anyone have any advice on the recommended daily maximum intake of sugar for weight loss? I'm a bit confused as I thought i could eat fruit quite freely, but I wanted to keep an eye the sugar content it so I've kept a note over the last few days. A typical day is:

Apple 10g sugar, banana 12g, glass of grapefruit 18g, yoghurt pot 10g and about 10g from other not sweet sources, such as milk, veg, beans etc

That's a total of 60g. Is that good or bad?
