Marriage Proposal

I am planning to propose to my girlfriend of 6 years.

My gf is taking me away for my birthday and I have decided I will propose on my birthday.

I am doubting if this is the right time.

Views please

Where are you being taken to Hugginsc? You should propose when you think the time is right, so if it's on your birthday, then go for it. What's the ring like?

Why are you doubting?

It's obviously what you want to do or you wouldn't be thinking about it.

Hope it all goes well for you :)

I will be asking my future father-in-law permission to marry her daughter, this to be me is very important and need to do this right.

Any tips?

Contact your future in-laws and ask if you can speak to them privately on an important matter that concerns you all. When you do meet them, explain that you wish to ask their daughter to marry you and out of respect and love for them, you are seeking their blessing first. You promise to love and care for her to the best of your ability. I would see it as a term of respect for both her parents if you could included her mother in all of this, not just her father, although traditionally it would have been her father you asked for permission to marry.. but women are not *owned* by men anymore !

Thanks for all your positive messages.

I've been thinking alot more about this, I know I still want to marry my girfriend, that has never changed, in fact I've been thinking about bringing the propsal date forward.

By the way, the ring, it left me breathless.
