My son finished with his girlfriend this week in the cold light of day he wants her back but she is having none of it. They have been together 2 1/2 years I told him you cannot mess with feelings expect someone to forgive & forget! He is devastated while it is all his own fault he is sobbing his heart out it is awful to see I gon't know how to make him feel better.

27!!!!!
Poor lad, but you're right he can't mess with feelings.

Why did he finish with her? She might have tried again but would find it hard to trust him if he dumped her for nothing very serious.

Not much you can do to help him, except to offer him your patience and comfort food!
sorry but at 27 he has to pull up his big boy knickers, learn from his mistakes and get through it
Just be there for him, he'll have to go through the motions that we all go through when a relationship ends, you can't make him feel better, that will take time.
When someone stops loving someone as his girlfriend stopped loving him, thre is nothing one can do - love can not be reignited once the flame burns out - but come to accept this as envitable................. no one can do this for you except you yourself, or in this case your son............. if it is his own fault , then he has to accept this and move on, forgiveness being only possible within himself not from a girlfriend who does not want him anyomre.

Its sad, its hurts, but he knows that he caused it and perhaps what he needs to consider is why he caused it and what that means.............deep perhaps, but he needs to delve into himself and consider why this has happened, with honesty ................

You can not make him feel better, it is not your job to do so, you are there to guide him thro the process of forgiveness within himself, allowing him to find a new path................ perhaps hopefully a more honest path................ you need to be strong and see this not as you healing him but aiding him healing himself

Good luck Px
We've all been there and my advice is do nothing. If he pesters her she will get really nasty and that will just prolong the agony.Keep well away and you never know time has a way of resolving these awkward situations.
