Seeing Scarletts thread below has prompted me to mention that I hit my toe whilst getting into the shower this morning and although it was only a slight tap it has bruised and is very painful. I soaked it in warm water this afternoon which brought out the bruise. I can`t remember the stuff we used to put on bruises, can anyone?

Arnica?
Question Author
That`s it, thanks Sandy.
witch hazel brings out bruises and helps to take away the pain too!......I think it's been used a long time before arnicea!.........works well!........I prefer it!........
Have you tried arnica tablets? Known in my family as bump pills. They bring down the swelling and help contain the bruising.
Incidentally, I have been advised to put Manuka honey on my injured foot! Got some this morning, and will let you know if it works!
Aloe vera ointment is good for healing and soothing.
Don't wish to put the worst case scenario forward really but in truth is it quite easy to break a toe by stubbing it on something, my husband did the self same thing by just hitting his toe on the skirting board...it didn't get better and they x-rayed it to find it was broken (5th metatarsal). Perhaps if yours doesn't improve soon you may want to see how yours is going....best wishes though as I know it can be very painful.
I did that, classylady, I broke my little toe when I kicked the corner of the bath....
arnica works best if applied within 10 mins of the accident.

Wonderful for any sports bag, especially the cream, and a lifesaver for my younger girl who seriously iceskates.

Toe now red and shiney at tip and blue/black near foot. Bit late for Arnica or Witch Hazel. I don`t think it`s broken anyway.

Manuka honey= AMAZING. Your toe is probably better now but if you have something infected which won't heal, use the honey!
