Alcohol and when to call it a day

For the last 15 years or thereabouts I've realised that I have a problem with alcohol and over the last two years it's got way out of hand and taken over my life.
For those last two years I haven't been able to work and I live on my own so there's another problem with not being able to talk to any body about it.
That's why I'm typing this.
Roughly, for about a month I've had a lot of stomach pain and trying to eat any thing makes it much, much worse, most days that I try to eat any thing It makes me sick about half an hour later.
Last night I did manage to eat a full meal but after throwing it back up I also produced about a desert spoon of blood, which has scared me a bit.
I would say that it's been about 3 or 4 months now that I have to have a bucket by my side as I'm constantly dehydrating by over salivating and as disgusting as it is - it has to go somewhere.
If you know what alcoholism is you wont knock me for being here, and I know you will say see your doctor and that's good advice. But if you're in constant pain and
If you are puking up blood, what have you done to yourself?

That sounds like cirrhosis to me - very serious, see a gp.
I agree. This is far to serious to post on a website such as this.

Stomach ulcer or liver problems. Do you have any yellowing of the skin or the whites of your eyes?
Throwing up blood is serious business and really needs to be assessed by a doctor.
Just don't go fannying about on medical websites getting mixed information - it will only confuse things - get a doctor's appointment asap, if your throwing up blood today I'd even go as far as to suggest a trip to casualty.
You must see your doctor - you can't carry on like this and it's dangerous to just quit cold turkey. See your doctor and get the help you need. You should also be aware of something called varices, which are like varicous veins in your esophagus, caused by drinking. These may be where the bleeding is coming from, but if they rupture you can bleed to death. I repeat again, see your doctor urgently. If you feel the need to talk once you have started treatment, by all means come back, but please, please see your doctor. Good luck x
Tomorrow go to your doctor. If you dont have one go to the nearest hospital. Good luck. You know yourself that your health is not in good shape, so dont waste any more time.
in fact it wouldn't hurt to google "walk-in centre" and see if there's one open that you could get to today. You sound quite ill.
You have made the first step by posting this thread.

Best wishes for the future.
Probably nothing to do with your alcohol consumption, probably a gastric ulcer.
No panic, but you need to see your GP.
Sqad...my Dad use to bring up blood. He had cirrhosis and died of liver cancer...

It is a panic. Get to the doctor ASAP
ummmm...OK it is a panic.
ummmm

<<produced about a desert spoon of blood<<<

Keep this in perspective.
Apart from the excellent advice you have had here. Can I ask you -what are your bowel movements like and what colour are they -be honest please.
DPlant.....google......Mallory-Weiss Syndrome and DON´t panic.

Thank you sqad.

>Try to keep it in perspctive< I like that.
The problem with not knowing is you assume the very worst and imagine all sorts of problems.

I Googled Mallory-Weiss Syndrome and it's put my mind at ease, There was no panic reading that. I think that that's what happened.
A visit to the Doc's will be booked in as soon as reception opens tommorow.
Dplant....good thinking.
Let us know how you get on, DPlant. ;-)
