I've reported half these powsts as being spam, this isn't in CB and I need help.
your dad sounds normal, he is a grown up as well so I would leave him to do what he enjoys.
Question Author
This isn't normal . . .
oops!
Question Author
Nothing about my dad is normal.
well you are not his mom so I would leave him be :)

He never knew his mum.

Honestly this is driving me, mum and several other people crazy, he needs help and seeing as he can't afford a boat we need another way of curing his obsession, spending over an hour a day looking at boats, then dreaming about them and going to boat yards every weekend isn't nomral, unless you could actually buy one and were going to, which he can't.
well stop thinking about it and switch off when he starts talking about them...problem solved...
I check the local property centre site each day for the house that I will buy when I win the lottery.

I checked with my psychiatrist and he said that this was normal. ;-)
when he takes out a loan for £50k for a boat, that he can't afford to repay... worry then.
Question Author
I get shouted at for not paying attention to him then.
he will get tired of shouting and you will have left home by then, dont worry yourself about it you are 16 not 50.
Question Author
Sara I doubt he'd get a loan, else he would have done by now.

I think the last three words of your post say it all!

Ysterday they argued cos dad wanted to use their and mine savings to buy a boat, but me and mum said we need a new kitchen (our current one is about 20 years old)
Question Author
Yes I need help to cure my dad.
He's having what's known as a mid-life crisis, Molly. Mine's bought a shiny red sports car, although it's in my name and is, to all intents and purposes, my car, but he's always ready to drive it!

Don't worry, it passes. Just humour him.

I wouldn't lend him your money, though. If he can't borrow what he needs from a bank or a loan company, what makes you think he's any more likely to pay you back?
