I'm on the pill Marvelon and am currently half way through my uni course and have been feeling really low recently. I've been very tired and worried about work but handed in my last assignment of the term yesterday so was expecting to start feeling better. Instead I felt absolutely awful yesterday evening, really down and crying over little things. I've been like this the past couple of months and have been putting it down to uni but am now wondering if it could be the pill? Any advice would be much appreciated and would I be wasting the doctors time if I went to talk to them about it?

Sophie - Various trials have been carried out in an attempt to assess the risk factor of low dose combined oral contraceptive pills, such as marvelon, with respect to depression. Most have found little or no association, but other studies have been a little more equivocal.
If I were you, i would most certainly be talking with my nearest and dearest for sympathy and support for sure, and I would also arrange to see the GP to see what they think.

Thankyou, have been taking a lot of it out on my boyfriend. he's been very understanding but don't want him to have to deal with a moody girlfriend all the time, especially as I used to be a really happy person. Will probably book to see doctor next week, suppose there can't be any harm asking about it!
