Following on from the Black Women thread - I just wondered if there are any black women out there, that could answer this question for me? This is not a racist slant on anyone - just a curiosity of mine.

Why is it that black men who only prefer to go out with white women, never seem to be referred to as racist by black women - or do you secretly think this?

well its not racist. I would say that black women arent as physically attractive as white women to most males.
Where I live my brother has a certain 'thing' for Asian and dark skinned girls (he's white), also and this is generalising, but the black men round here are in the majority Yardies and like white women for fun but keep their 'Bonafide' wifey at home. The non-white women around here are the wives, they look after the children and they don't take any sh*t from their husbands. The white girls that 'go' with the black men are never there for the duration or and long period of time at all.
I don't agree with this statement at all anyway. Who says they prefer white women?

Without intending any offence, I did read recently that in certain US societies the white woman is considered a "trophy" that the black man moves up to when he has succeeded in life and abandons his black partner. How sad, if true.

Firstly, el duerino, that is the most horrendous generalisation I have ever heard! Georgit79, chill out, smudge is only talking about black guys who DO only date white women, not that all black men only like white women. I heard an interview not long ago, and the lady being interviewed was black ( i can't remember who it was ) but when asked, she said that black women do take a dislike to the white girls who date black men from the community, as they feel that the black men are saying that, and I quote, ..."their own aren't good enough for them". I'm white and female, and I have had trouble from black girls just because I've been speaking to a black man at a bar or whatever. Just for the record, I don't have blond hair or a "thing" for black men, just men in general!!! xxx
I am totally chilled out, dude. I just read the question wrong, that's all. Didn't mean to offend, man.
why? as far as I can tell its pretty much true. there are exceptions, but generally I havent seen much to contradict what I said. people wont like it but thats irrelevant really.

Well im slap bang in the middle ! Dad is black, Mum is white. They were on holiday in the U.S.  and got lost off beaten path into some Ghetto, and all the black women were giving her the most deadly snarling looks - i dont know the story behind their dissaproval though she didnt stick around to find out !.

But i would imagine that over here it isnt the fact that black men prefer white women, i reckon its quite simply due to the ratio, there are far more white women around than black.

back2tigga - it's nice to receive an unbiased view. The experience your Mum had, must have been very scary to say the least.
lol are you implying smudge that we are incapable of being unbiased unless we come from a mixed race background? thats a handy bias
Question Author
el duerino - No I didn't mean that at all - I meant that as back2tigga has a black Father & a white Mother, she has different experiences & sees things from both sides of the fence. Having said that, it shouldn't alter the way anyone else feels - free speech, etc. Hope that makes it clearer for you. :)

Lol - smudge ! both sides of the fence ?- looks that way if you think im a girl aswell as a bloke he he !!!

It is a bit mad being 'in the middle though'  obviously i went through all the pallava through school years and now if i walk through a predominently black area, ie Toxteth and some ares of Manchester, i still get funny looks !

Question Author

back2tigga - Apologies for thinking you were a female, it was the name you see - well that's my excuse.

Yes, it must have been quite difficult for you at times, being 'piggy in the middle'. That's what I was trying to explain to el duerino. I was also trying to be diplomatic at the same time - you can't win!

back2tigga, this is one thing that really bothers me. It sounds like you're saying "yeah, it's been really hard for me...poor me I'm mixed race". People get stared at for having big ears, glasses, spots, being overweight, too tall, too short, having ginger hair, freckles, one arm, three heads,  whatever. YOU are making it sound like you have a disability, like you deserve sympathy. For what? Shouldn't you try and be a little more positive. My very close cousin is of mixed race and if someone looks at her in the street she doesn't immediately assume it's because of her skin colour. Why should it be? Is it cos I is black, springs to mind.
singingfish, i know exactly the attitude you are talking about- those people who cry discrimination everytime they get in the poo poo ?. poor old me and all that, they do my head in too !. I couldnt be more opposite, actually im gutted you thought it - i wrote my post in a ' laughing about it' frame of mind. it doesnt bother me at all, i find it quite funny when people dont notice i have colour and start telling racist jokes !! ps- i like the Ali G quote- LoL.
Question Author

singingfish - although this doesn't relate to my initial question, you made some very good points & I do understand what you mean about the 'poor me' syndrome. Also, it really infuriates me when 'some' people openly do wrong & then blame their behaviour on everything & everybody else but themselves. I mean people from all walks of life, not just mixed race/black people.

However, I didn't get the impression from back2tigga that he was this way inclined. I think you may have misunderstood his comments, as it seemed to me they were 'tongue in cheek' so to speak.

*GAB* smudge !

Question Author
Oh, I wish I knew what GAB meant back2tigga? Alas, I'm still non the wiser, as my daughter won't tell me!
smudge, honestly i havent got a whinnie-the-pooh what it means !. pretty sure its something to the effect of 'well said' though.
Question Author
Oh - well thank you back2tigga! Perhaps we'll find out soon eh? Nitey nite!
