My husband sustained a butterfly fracture to his humerous which extends to the top of his arm 10 days ago.His hand is extremely swollen(even though he tries to keep his arm raised as best as he can) and i'm just wondering how long it will take untill the swelling goes down,it is causing him more discomfort than the break.

A week ago sunday,at first they thought he hed broken his thumb aswell, then as his hand swelled so badly we took the cast off went back to A & E ( where they metioned compartment syndrome)he was admitted overnight, released in the morning but it is still so puffy.I think he has what is called a backslab cast.
If the hand is swollen, the backslab could be too tight.

Take him back and ask to see the Consultant.

This is urgent.
