just a quick update on my friend's step daughter - the brain tumour was malignant - she wil have to have some radiotherapy because even though they took the main body of the tumour out, some bits were left.

My friend said they told her step daughter she would loose all her hair - I did'nt think this happened with radiotherapy ? She has a few weeks yet before treatment as they have to make her some kind of mask.

They cannot give her a positive prognosis though - which is quite concerning. She is out of hospital and back home and is doing well.

Thanks for all your answers on my previous post.

Do you normally loose hair with radiotherapy Sqad ?
yes
Depends where and how much DXT she has. I would say that she may have to have an area shaved and if not there will undoubtedly be hair loss...........sorry.
My cousin was given a cold cap to wear and her hair didn't fall out.
Yes, I'm afraid you do. A friend of mine has had brain tumours (small ones). She had radiotherapy and lost all her hair. It has since grown back. She seems OK but gets very tired.
All the best to your friend's step daughter.

Thanks ianfran - much appreciated.
The news that it is malignant is great Denise. It will be a tough few months but hopefully she'll pull through and I wish her all the best for a full recovery x
Caj. Did you mean non-malignant.
Oh no, I'm very sorry for some reason I confused malignant with benign - I was tired last night! Sorry Denise and thanks Schutzengel for making me aware of my mistake.

All the best x
