Something I've wondered for a while in case anyone knows.

I understand it's usually a sign of some kind of nerve damage but can people have one with no suspicious cause?

Babinski neg. Stroke the sole of foot on inner side and the toes go down.............normal response

Babinski +........stroke the sole of the foor on the inner aspect and the toes go up. Always indicates damage somewhere in the CNS from spine to brain (upper motor neuron)
ooh, I've gone all of a quiver....
would you like to stroke the soles of my feet sqad?
salla....would be a start..........I suppose. However I want you for your mind salla.............................liar!
of course you do sqad - and I'm only interested in you because of your medical knowledge.... (actually, I always have had a 'thing' for doctors) ;-)
Do you think my toes would curl up?
Definitely always sqad?

I've had it for years but kind of got lost in the loop.

Got referred to a neurologist for a variety of symptoms and they were looking for possible MS. I was referred to a friend of my neurologist who specialises in ear related disorders to look into menieres (my mum has it) and she reckoned it was menieres but I never got a call back to either her or the neurologist though I was commuting to London for a bit then moved so may have got lost in the system.

Was wondering whether it was something worth following up with new GP (4th in as many years due to moving) or just leave it.

Noticed I still had the positive reflex when they were doing some reflex tests in physio. On a brighter note, my knee reflexes are back though which has to be a good thing :)

Just don't want to bother them if it's nothing.
jenna....I am not a Neurologst BUT:

A positive Babinski is nothing to do with Meniere's Disease.

A positive Babinski is seen in MS and other Spino-Cortical tract disorders.

A positive Babinski CAN be a normal finding in a small % of the population.

Sorry I cannot be more precise jenna.

Try Googling it.
No worries, thanks for your help :)

I'll have a google x
