It takes a LOT of backcombing and effort! And you end up with the most tangled hair in history. I'll try and find out for you.
And definitely buy huge amounts of the strongest hairspray you can find.

Hi ROsehb - We're just back after 2 glorius weeks in the sun, celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary. I just had to reply to your question, as it really took me back to Septeber 1964 & the day we married. I had very long, thick dark hair & also had a beehive hairdo on that very special day!

My hairdresser put my hair up in a high ponytail, then backcombed it forever, it until it looked like a birds nest (literally). She then smoothed it round & round & round, placing open pins as she went along, until it resembled a smooth bee hive. It looks good with a straight fringe, which is what I had. I'm sure you'll be able to find a decent hairdresser who'll be able to do this for you. Good luck!
