I am in the middle of a divorce, I have received the decree nisi and the marital home is for sale, my solicitor will not apply for absolute until financial matters have been sorted however my mother has just been told that she has a terminal illness and only has a few months to live, when my mother dies I will inherit part of her property, if the divorce is not fully completed will my soon to be ex husband be entitled to any of it? (We have a 4 year old son)
There is no reason why you cannot get your decree absolute. The ancillary relief (financial part) is separate from the divorce. Many people get divorced and then sort out thier finances.
