Did I do the right thing?

Me and my best mate are both 24 and single and we both have well paid jobs with a similar pay. A few months ago I decided to get a mortgage and buy my own place which now takes up a lot of my money so I cant afford to go out so much as I used to or get the latest stuff such as mobiles ect... My mate however is still living with his parents and isnt paying them much for still living with them so he still can afford to go out every weekend and get all the good trendy stuff , decent car ect.. If I'm honest I'm becoming a bit of a recluse and I miss going out and spending my cash and I'm begining to regret buying a house in the 1st place.. do you think I did the right thing or not?
