how can you tell if you have broken your arm?

on saturday i was dancing on my coffee table. i fell off and landed badly, put my hand down to stop my fall.

now my wrist is dead swolen, but i can move all my fingers and bend my wrist. but it hurts when i pick stuff up or open doors with it.

what should i do?

Stay off the coffee table and the ale until the swelling goes down.
only x-ray will tell you.
be sure to tell them you did it within 24hrs of turning up at A&E though otherwise they'll only send you to GP, who'll send you back to hospital. As something of an expert in drunken injury I'd advise it's best to cut out the middle man lol

i am a bit worried that they might put a cast on it - or tell me not to drive or something. but i goin to glasto this weekend and want to be on top drunken form.
dilemma - go hostipal or not!!!!
Definitely go to hostipal.
Hi Lobbert
My friend once fell out of the coach on her way back from the races at Ascot, (she may have overindulged in the fizzy plonk) her hand was swollen and she could move all her fingers but it hurt. She worked behind a bar all the weekend pulling pints etc before finally giving in and going to the hospital on the Monday. She had broken two bones in her hand and the doc said her pain threshold must have been really high (personally I think she was just numbing the pain with alcohol)
Anyway the point of this long ramble is... you could have broken a bone or two, just because you can move your fingers doesn't mean its not broken. Get an x-ray soon. Even if you end up with a cast it shouldn't stop you having fun at the festival.

Generally if you are a hypochondriac male it is always a break. If it swells it most likely is and you actually get to go to the hospital.
you can get yuor cast signed by loadsa folk at the festival it will be a talking point .
so even if its not broken get a cast.
hope youre ok tho ;-)
go and buy a tubigrip support from the chemist. support it for 24 hrs to see if helps.

if it is agony then you've fractured it probably

I broke my wrist and wondered about for 3 months before getting a plaster on it. Don't be such a Jessie!!
Dancing on the coffee table lobbert , did you hear the words "Told you so " ringing in your ears ?
It would indeed be advisable to get it x-rayed love , you can still hit Glastonbury with a cast on eh? All the best :-) x

Pleased its nothing serious. Hope you are back to normal soon. I was not so lucky - a slight stumble lead to a broken bone in my foot and I have an inflatable boot to wear.
