A standard over-the-counter remedy like Gaviscon or Remogel will work almost instantaneoulsy to relieve the burning sensation. The symptoms you describe sound le a condition known as 'reflux' and this can be the first sign that you have a haiatus hernia - a faulty valve which is allowing stomach acid to seep into your esophagus (sorry if the spelling is wrong). Ask your GP to refer you for an X-ray and / or a CT scan to check this out. If ot os a haiatus hernis, a small surgical proceedure will correct it, but it won't go on its own, so if the symptoms persist, get things moving - you know how slow the NHS is!
I agree although the best I've ever had is Pepcid 2 Tablets, they last forever :o)
got to be rantidine (try and avoid the branded variety as much more expensive). See a doc as soon as possible. Burning sensation in throat sounds like reflux, but you should get checked out.
