What would you do if you found a lottery ticket in the street, on the bus, wherever, took it home and when you checked the numbers you found it was a jackpot winner! 3,000,000. !!!

Would you cash it or would you try and find who lost it , bearing in mind that you would get all and sundry swearing it was theirs.

Definately cash it.

Really, who wouldn't? lol.
id keep it and wait til last possible day for claiming. Im sure that even without the ticket people can claim so id let the person that lost it claim if they could.
If it was a lucky dip then Id claim it as who would ever know theyd lost the winning ticket.

Can you tell by the ticket if it's a lucky dip? I've never noticed that.
Yup Pink..it has 'LD' right next to the numbers :o)
Definately keep it, you would have no way of knowing whose it was anyway!
I would give some of it to a good charity though to ease my conscience!
What a stupid question! Of course I'd f*cking keep it! Lmao..
Anyone in their right mind would keep it... and anyone in there wrong mind would hand it in, and spend the rest of their lives kicking themselves for being such a twit! Lol
If you found it, it's mine!

I just wondered coz when I posted a Q ages ago about finding money in the street or on a shop floor etc, most people said they would hand it in!!
If it was an old ladys purse with her life savings in it , that is a different circumstance, a lost lottery ticket doesnt pull on my heart strings. (And I doubt there would be 3,000,000 in it)

To claim any prize you will have to complete a claim form and give proof of your identity. If you are claiming a large prize, additional checks on your winning ticket may be conducted and this might include confirming where you purchased the ticket, but a bit of absent-mindedness can abate that. The only way to try and make sure that nobody else claims on YOUR ticket should you lose it is to write your name and address on the back, otherwise it is fair game for any finders! I would claim on it why ever not?

The ticket is the only proof of being a winner if you lose it, youve lost it!
I found a ticket and won a tenner....which is more than I normally win...so by that reckoning, you have more chance of winning if you find a ticket than if you bought one....
goes off searching the streets for lottery tickets>>>(:O)
I agree with Pa__ul... If I worked in a shop and someone handed me 20 and said it was found on the shop floor... I'd pocket it! Unless someone came up to the till and said they had lost 20 and did I know if any had been handed in! But finding 3,000,000 is very different. Its a chance to change your life. I'd keep it.... no questions asked.
you've ruined it now oct :-( But you're right you do have to prove where you bought it etc.... God Damm you
Question Author
I was just thinking that Oct - is there no code or something on the ticket to indicate where it was bought??
It would appear that if you declare yourself as a finder then the NL will search for any valid holders or investigate any claims from people who claim to have lost the winning ticket.

Assuming they havent written their n&a on the back, then should the actual purchaser not materialise then, at their discretion, the NL will pay the winnings to the finder.

It would take a cool calm devious head to claim a jackpot prize on a found ticket without declaring it found, and then if found out you run the risk of not getting the money as it would be seen as being stolen. If not, jackpot.

Section M refers.
I'd keep it and donate some to charity - anyone could claim it was theirs and they couldn't prove it so it would be a waste of time trying to find the real owner.
