I had a similar problem some years ago, but it became very painful. It was a middle ear infection, whicheventually caused my eardrum to perforate (the infection can only get out that way ) It was worse than childbirth !!!!!!!
I had anti biotics and eventually it got better.
I hope I havent scared you.
Hope yours gets better without pain !
Your GP didn't prescribe antibiotics for you 'ear infection'?....A month seems a long time to still have these symptoms...Is it painful or do you only suffer deafness?...

It is not painful and the doctor said there was no medication to give
If it sounds like a sea shell you could have crabs!
Why don't you go and see an alternate therapist who practices Hopi ear candles and see if they can help you .The candles very gently remove any water that is being retained and also cleans out ear wax. I have had the treatment and it was really good.
I've just come across your posting. If you still get sound in your ears, the chances are that you have tinnitus. Lots of info. on this subject can be found on the Royal National Inst. for Deaf - RNID website. You can buy equipment to relieve the problem, but never use ear candles. They are not proven to help and can cause irreversible damage to your ears.
