Does everyone dred Xmas or are you looking forward to i a tiny bit? What is the specific thing you look forward to the most about it? Is this related to your childhood experiences?

Hey Scarlett. I love the whole aura of Christmas but the day itself is a huge letdown! Used to be brill when my sis was at home but since she moved out its gone downhill. Now I'm moving out but I'll be back to my parents for xmas day!The best thing is when I give my nephew his presents and seeing his beaming face!! Guess it'll only get better when I have kids around me but until then!!
Although I can't wait to decorate my flat with xmas decorations. But at the same time I was horrified to see last night that someone already has lights up!! Its October for gawds sake!

I like xmas but its not really something I get axcited about anymore, when I was a kid it would be exciting, then when I was a teenager I�d get excited about xmas parties but then it got boring but this year is my nephews 2nd xmas so its always nice to see him get his presents. But really all I look forward to is the prawn cocktail, mmmmm. Don�t like it that much any other time of the year but on xmas day its lovely :-)
4getmenot used to get soooo excited at xmas. Our brother was the funniest though, even at 16 he'd wake everyone up at 4am because santa had been (i think the santa bit was put on for our little sis)
I love xmas day, but not the chaos that surrounds it, cooking for loads of people etc. One year i had 4getmenot over and she turned up late, hungover and then fell asleep on my bed. When she woke, all she wanted was her xmas prawn cocktail (how 70s eh?) and to go home again.
As she said, this year is my sons 2nd xmas and im so looking forward to seeing his face when faced with his pressies.

I love Christmas, lots of things happening, but it goes too quick and before you know it you're back at work in the drudge of it all. We used to have good family get togethers but sadly a lot of my siblings have died over recent years, so I light a candle and remember all the good times we had and get slightly drunk but I do miss those times a lot and childhood experiences for me are good ones, although dad was very strict and didn't let me open my pressies until after the Queens speach (oh how I hated that, she seemed to go on and on!) but, hey bring it on, can't wait.!
I'm gonna be a bit of a bah humbug! I dread it every year and would be more than happy if it was cancelled ! A big load of fuss for one day! I do enjoy the actual day when it arrives but i hate the very long run up to it! (August was my first christmas card sightings) I love to see my kids enjoying it and that makes it all worthwhile i suppose (unrulie says that a bit begrudgingly) lol. i agree with the others though, i kind of think," is that it after Christmas dinner!" I think the sort of Christmases you had as a child perhaps define how you see it as an adult. I see it as a mass of hard work and lots and lots of money!
There isn't anything I don't love about Christmas!
I still get up at 5am and go and wake my brother and sister. We all sit on the landing and open our stockings (we've never been allowed to go and wake my mum for presents before 6!). My sister is staying this time with my 22 month old niece, so I've already been warned if I do it this year I'll be on the receiving end of a swift smack in the chops.
Oh, did I mention I'm 21? :o)) x

i dread the kids waking me at 6am on xmas morning, when i've been out down the boozer the night before.
I look forward to the look on the boys faces when they open there presents, its '' that look'' that makes xmas special for me, unlike me, when i was a child, my mum&dad would go out on xmas eve, and we would ''slightly tear '' the presents open under the tree {i know, they should put them out in the early hours of xmas day} and guess whos got what, so come xmas morning when it was time to open the presents, no one wanted to get up, as we already new what we were getting, the only look we had was one of ''disapointment'' lol
Only joking, i would'nt swap my childhood for the world, did'nt have two pennies to rub together {as tear rolls down cheek} but i had my family, thats what xmas is all about

that reminds me of my bf's nephews who one year after their parents finally finished wrapping pressies at 3am and crawled off to bed went to the room they were in.
6am, the parents heard the noises and went downstairs to find the 2 boys (aged about 8) had opened every carefully wrapped pressie in the room, even ones that werent even for them!

Like others the actual day itself is always a let down (apart from the dinner!)! I love the build up - only in December though - it doesn't seem right until at least December 1st!
I like cold, dry winter nights with little twinkling lights up, the atmosphere, the smell of warm mince pies, even the christmas music in shops. The problem I have is thinking of what to buy people - I don't like that part, but once I have ideas I love going shopping and then giving the presents.
Christmas Eve is probably my favourite day - it ends with going around the local town playing christmas carols in hotels and pubs - always a nice atmosphere!
