anyone get them? I went to the doctors today and although he was really, really nice and attentive, now at home I am more worried than I was before I went. Firstly its not just my heart beating harder and faster, I get spells where my heart speeds up pauses for 2 secs and then bang it starts again, quite harshly. This repeats until episode is done with. I am only 27 and he says its definitely nothing to do with cholestorol. I am pretty much physically healthy. I gotta go for an ECG at the surgery on mon and have a full blood count and then on Fri I find out whether I will need to go for a 24hr heart tape. What might they be looking for cause I really have no idea?

i get this sometimes after certain activities. Dont take offence by this that im going to ask you but do you or have you in the past taken any drugs? as this can contribute to it. Or do you get this when you are stressed as it could be a nervous reaction? like a mini panic attack?
Hope the tests go well x

Cause of my situation, I thought it could be stress and ignored it for months (only went cause they have been getting stronger, longer pauses and bigger bangs back in), but it happened when I was there and he said that he felt the pause in the beats was quite long and thought that it was a bit harsh to be stress related.
I have taken drugs too. Doesn't seem to happen after particular activities.
anxiety...I got this bad about 4 years ago...stress etc....thought i had a heart problem...but doc gave me pils for anxiety and sorted it. the problem itself causes anxiety, so was in a never ending circle til l took the pills for a few months
I wouldn't worry too much . You are still young and menopausal women tend to get palpitations !!
It could and I stress ..could... be thyroid related .
My brother although many many years older than you gets this sometimes ..but it has been established that he has an abnormally slow heartbeat and it races to catch up with itself if you can understand what I mean .It could also be a type of panic attack .I used to get these although I wasn't actually panicking over anything ! I am sure they will sort it out .They seem to be on the ball. Good luck .
I've had palpitations for years now. Every time I have strong coffe they appear about twenty minutes later, guaranteed. Apparently it's the caffiene, which is also found in tea and coke, so maybe you could try and cut them out?
It's possibly an anxiety or panic attack. As said above, you may not actually feel anxious or in a panic but something just sets it off. Its easy to say try not to worry, but 'try not to worry'.

I get them from time to time and have no idea what sets it off. Had an ECG myself but nothing showed up.
Try some Bach`s Rescue Remedy. Excellent for all anxiety/ panic attacks or stressful times.
