Too many unknowns to say - outside temperature, wind speed, level of insulation, location of property to name but a few.

more like the cost of gas and not actually heating the house to say 21c
Mine costs £1 an hour, 40 year old boiler
I know exactly how much it costs because the Ovo app gives very precise readings, tied to my smart meter.
hang on to your old boiler, barry. A more modern one might, or might not, be more fuel efficient but it won't last as long as your current one. Taking into account replacement and servicing costs will put you into a much worse finacial position compared with hanging on to "Old Faithful". Advice given to me by a plumber who used to live next door.
Thanks, bhg, i have thought about getting a new one, all those ads telling me how inefficient my boiler is.
If it's on constantly for 60 minutes, then you're not far off.
Our boiler is 28.63Kwh.
The current price cap = 10.3p per kwh
10.3p x 28.63 = £2.95 per hour (running for a constant 60 minutes).
Bear in mind that this doesn't include VAT and standing charge.
Based on Gizmonsters numbers, I would think £1 an hour to be a very good approximation based on the boiler fired up for 1/3 of the time, once the house has reached stable temperature.

That operation would be dissipating the equivalent to a continuous 3kW of power into 3 rooms within the home.
