Well Superkev, if it worked for stopping you to eat, you would not need to worry much about smoking or drinking would you?

Very funny qapmoc, I meant stop eating junk food.

I know a couple of people who found hypnosis stopped them smoking. One never smoked a cigarette again. The other had one relapse so she went back for a free top-up session and she has never smoked since. A woman I work with tried it, but it didn't work (her husband kept nagging her to start again) although she does say the negative thoughts she was told about cigarettes during hypnosis pop up into her head when she reaches for a fag.

It seems to work for some and not others. I think it's worth a try if you get someone qualified. I imagine you still have to really want to change though for it to work. If you go into the session thinking "I'd better give it a go, but I fancy some chips afterwards" it might not be a good idea!

I think it depends whether you REALLY want to give up whatever it is you're going to hypnotherapy for.

I have been and found it made absolutely no difference to what I was trying to give up - but then I don't think I really wanted to stop.

It is good tho for clearing your head generally and putting things into perspective, since they sort of delve into your past also to try and figure out why you're doing a thing.
