When I was a child, my Dad used to make hand lotion, I can just remember gum tragacanth, bergamot, and what else, I don't know. can anyone help me. thanks.

The 'Rose Cream' here uses gum tragacanth but not bergamot (which can be found in the 'Honey Balsam'):

I think bergamot would be used for perfume. I think glycerine could be answer,thanks.
Your welcome I know you used to be able to buy it in bottles from the pharmacy - as my nana did.
you still can get glycerine from chemists, its cheap as chips
