Have got a few bites recently in my legs but there is one in particular at the inside of ankle.

The bite feels as it has gone into the bone and of course am tonight typing this instead of being in my beddy byes.

Anybody suggest what I can buy in chemists tomorrow as I don't want another day or night of this.

TCP usually helps - I usually pour it on straight onto the bite but it does leave a lingering smell on my bed clothes etc.

Any other suggestions would help. Now I feel another one back of knee.

Pharmacist will advise - I use Hc45 1% Hydrocortisone cream.

oh Mamy - I do have that in drawer - am off to use that - gee thanks mamy
Glad to help.
Since I got bitten recently, I have started keeping a pot of basil in the bedroom. The scent confuses the mosquitoes.
You need to take it out into daylight/sunshine every day, but it does work.
Savlon works too.

Thanks all for your replies.
You need to work out what is biting you!
then take a allergy tablet like a one a day one should minimise any reaction to them.
I agree with mamy.
On holiday in South Africa, OH had some nasty bites. A pharmacist gave him some pills. I'm not sure if they were meant to prevent more bites or help with the ones he already had.
Lennon-thiamine hydrochloride. I don't know if it's available here. Might be worth asking your pharmacist.
make sure it is not a horse-fly bite

ugh - one of the reasons I dont sun bathe
( bleeucch photies on the URL)

as HC cream probably not suitable for them

I well remember meeting Greenhead flies in New Jersey....never EVER again!
I agree with Islay- find out what it is first.

My eldest daughter got bitten something chronic last month, turned out her cat had fleas and it was them chowing down on her ankles.
How does identifying the source of the bite, affect the initial treatment?
I don't understand that bit.
Surely the treatment is exactly the same.
Well Sqad if it turns out that its fleas it does not matter how many times she treats the bites if she doesn't treat the cause!
Sqad, "How does identifying the source of the bite, affect the initial treatment?"
Being a little pedantic are we?
Clearly reducing the possibility of more bites will help!!

Islay.....but the treatment of the bites, which was the question, remains the same for ANY bite.......hydrocortisone cream or antihistamine cream.
You are correct, that there will be recurrence if the source of the bites are not identified in flea bites (dogs or cats) but the treatment to the patient is exactly the same.
The animals may have to be treated if appropriate.....but that was not the question.
Bites around the ankles are generally caused by fleas i'm afraid, time to check your pets!

"Being a little pedantic are we? "
No......I don't thinks so, I would say pragmatic.
well no it wasn't sqad, but I and I assume Islay did as well, thought that hopefully eliminating the source might be of some use.

Could this be a clue to the need of the poster?
