My wife, Ann, has had two ,both extremely hassle free and successful.
both mum and dad had cataracts done by laser..easy peasy and made a big difference
Question Author
I just ask because, I had one done in November 2016 and after the op they laze-rd it to clean it and although everything is brighter, it is not quite in focus,( you know when you go to the optician and they ask you to pick which one is clearer)
ask at an opticians ...you may need additional help with glasses...eyes may have naturally deteriorated with age unrelated to cataracts ?

They signed me off at the hospital and I am due to have the other eye done
It was the reverse for Ann, she went from requiring glasses all the time to just readers. She has worn glasses for so long as o feel uncomfortable without them so now has varifocals that go from plain glass to reading. There was no need for any laser treatment though.
I had two done; the first was fine, the second very slightly out of focus - not enough to be a problem when I use both eyes together (as normal). My long-distance vision is much improved but I still nead reading/computer glasses, as most people do.

How does it actually feel looking through the one you've had done? Are you happy with it? If not, you're entitled to ask for an explanation.

It was for distance and I wear my glasses now to watch tv, I never did. It took a while to settle , itching etc there is still a flicker now and again.
I'd be having a chat with my doctor before getting the other eye done. I wouldn't have thought you should have to wear glasses when you used not to.

That what I thought
I had both eyes done, six weeks apart, around this time last year. Absolutely marvellous. Made a great difference to my eyesight. i now don't need vari-focals, which I had been wearing for nearly 20 years, although I still need magnifying glasses for reading. Driving, too, I find is much easier. The overall distance vision is less blurred. I can thoroughly recommend the operation, so pain, no source of fear or nervousness. A job well done.
very straightforward
and very successful

[ good luck]
I had both of mine done over a year ago now but my vision is worse than before I had cataracts. I still need glasses for driving and I now have to wear them to watch TV. My brother had his done after me, but he went back for laser about a week ago and now his eyes are fine.I don't think that everyone has a successful outcome.
they reckon the sucess rate is 95% plus. However, that's still three or four in every hundred that won't go as expected. But one eye not doing so well doesn't mean the other one won't. That's something to ask your doctor about.

Barsel, it seems we are the unlucky ones
Hi Tamaris, missed you post over the weekend. Had both mine done in the space of 6 months. I paid privately for the first, about £1800. Brilliant results. My distance vision is as good as it ever was and I do not need spectacles for driving. I still need a weak prescription for reading and can even use the PC without them. I have found that I need to wear sunglasses, even if there is no sun, if it is windy or my eyes water. Also the new fangled LED lights that are being used in some stores are so bright that I again don the sunglasses. I look like an old poser wearing shades all the time. Haha.
