Hi, my driving test has been moved forward, eek! It is now in 3 weeks and I am very, very nervous. Someone suggested taking "rescue remedy" before my test. Does anyone know if this will actually help? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks

I know lots of people who swear by it.

I believe it has alcohol in it though so be careful!

Personally if I'm a bit anxious I take Kalms - find they work well.

Good luck with the driving test!

I didn't know about the alcohol, will check that out thanks, but I think it's just a few drops you take.  Never thought of Kalms, will try those too, but not both at same time lol.
Thanks for the good luck :-)
Hi  Good Luck to be honest just be yourself as for taking something which is unknown and untried by you I would advise Not too, can't tell what effect may have on you and could get you more het up, just take it as if its another driving lesson and as dad's army would say don't panic.  just be prepare to follow the commands and they are only looking for safe practice  and you still learn and gain experience years after passing a test  I would just have coffee or tea and a cake before your test because energy and glucose is what keeps your body clock and calm going as I've said unless you are familar with whatever is in any over the counter stuff  best not to rely on it. Trust this is of help.

Thanks for the advice pega, I probably would have forgotten to eat, or been too nervous :-}  I suppose I could try the stuff out next week (I'm having a lesson everyday) to see if it helps.
Chat to me before your test and I`ll set ya mind straight!

What a load of rubbish! If you can drive you will pass the test. Get practising and good luck!

Okay, this will sound weird, but try chewing gum. I read somewhere that the chewing motion distracts part of your brain??? I'm sure loads of people will now jump in and say it's rubbish, but I used it when I took my test (2nd time) and this time I passed. Might only be coincidence, sure, but it's worth a go.
I have tried that before, it tastes rank and I didn't notice anything different after it.  On the odd occasion I've needed to relax I've gone for Kalms.  Be careful though you don't get too relaxed and the best of luck to you.

Thanks everyone, will probably try the Kalms. Do I need to start taking them a few days beforehand?

Dear Mycatis

At the risk of getting very complicated I would like to share the following:

Visualisation. Lie on your bed and visualise your whole driving test. See yourself  going through all the right actions and doing so without stressing and then also receiving your licence. When you visualise, it creates new neurotransmitters in your brain. These determine your actions.

If you (through visualisation) see yourself (creating new neurotransmitters) achieving what you want then it will become second nature (habit).

Therefore: If you visualise something happening enough times then your brain can not distinguish between really doing it and only visualising it and will then form the habit as if it has done it loads of times before. Therefore: If you have convinced your brain that you have passed this test more than once before you will be more confident and less stressed as your body thinks it is just repeating a habitual action. Trust me: This is TRUE! Good Luck x

Thank you SublimeSelf, I will definately try that, will start tonight. Thanks
I tried rescue remedy before a job interview that I was really nervous about and it was fantastic - never known anything like it. It does taste strange and it didn't do much on the first spray - but here's the thing - you can keep taking it until it does work as you can't overdose on it. I took about 3 or 4 sprays and that got rid of all of my butterflies. Definitely check out the alcohol content before hand, and if you're worried about whether it might make you feel strange, buy some and take it now and see if it affects you in the wrong way at all. I can't rate the stuff highly enough.

Kalms - start taking them about a week or so before your test - I only take 2 a day but they seem to help me loads.  It may well be all in my head but whatever works right?!

Also try some relaxing breathing techniques and most importantly of all believe in yourself!  You seem like you're getting loads of practice so I, and I'm sure all other responders, have every faith in you!

Let us know how you get on!

Thanks everyone, I will come on and tell you how I did.
If there is a whole post with just sobbing, then you know I've failed LOL. But I won't!! (positive thinking)
