I'll have a good read, Tilly and mail you with anything interesting........you probably are mad though.....x
Aren't we all?
Question Author
Yes....and it's nice......x
Me...... but no real answer, my BP is elevated but not massively so my eyes guy can't come up with and answer
I don't about you lot, but I am normal - I think - with normal eyes, though a bit warped from too much reading, esp of fine print contracts. More seriously, I think a lot of glaucoma folk don't know the cause, but for age creeping on.....get them checked regularly and take the drops - better that than losing the retinal nerve.
Question Author
You too, Slappy.....odd isn't it.....x

DT...I don't have glaucoma......I was curious about the pressure being so high for so long with no eye problems...
I wish I knew what 'normal' is
No such thing as 'normal', Sibs. We are all odd, in our own way.
Is it ocular hypertension then? Can occur without glaucoma and can lead to it as well.

High pressure inside the eye is usually caused by an imbalance in the production and drainage of fluid in the eye - the aqueous stuff. The channels that normally drain the fluid from inside the eye do not function properly and this results in more fluid continually being produced but cannot be drained because of the mal- functioning drainage channels. This results in an increased amount of fluid inside the eye and, voilà, then raising the pressure.
DTC, did you Google that?

Everything's been investigated, DT....all is fine and healthy...x
You must be a bit odd then, Gness. Odd is good. We are all odd.

(A bit OTT with the ODD there!)
Gness! So sorry I have not been on line earlier. I have been recording abnormally high pressure readings for years. Had me very worried as Dad had glaucoma. No-one found reasons for it. Then I moved to France.

In France, specs. are very, very expensive, so I carried on going to the UK for new glasses and checks whilst on holiday. Worriedly clutching my latest test results from UK, I went to my French GP, who referred me to a specialist in a clinic in La Rochefoucauld.

All the tests kept coming up with these elevated pressures, but she peered deep into my eyes and said that the optic nerve looked OK to her. A few, pensive, minutes later she disappeared to return with what sounded like 'lemon juice' . This was dropped into my eyes and shortly after an electonic probe touched my eyeballs - to record normal readings!

It appears that I have (for want of a better translation) greasy eyeballs. I now tell opticians and 'yes' they concur. It may well be the same for you, so relax :o) x
Just a throw away line gness. I go for cataract op Aug 11th. I always thought that high pressure of eye was glaucoma. Best cure for that was always ganga. True
Greasy eyeballs? Yeuk!
Question Author
Wow, J.....than't so interesting. Do you now have normal readings?

Togo....I think high pressure can point to glaucoma amongst other things but the two aren't always conected....
Good luck with your op......x
gness - yes, I now have normal readings when I explain about the 'grease' and they do 'touch' probes (Latest in Driffield about a month ago).

Tilly, it is a bit of a nuisance, I used to wear contact lenses - until they started clouding over after about twenty minutes. It was probably the irritation from that started the over-production of grease :(
Question Author
Thanka, J......wonder what it was they put in your eyes......I shall have lots of questions when I go for my next appointment......it would be lovely to have a pressure around 20....xx

Nearly didn't put this question on...glad I did now.

Thanks all.....Gx
Oh you have this apparently
I would go every year TBH
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocular_hypertension

it appears to be a pre-glaucoma state
Question Author
Thanks, Peter.....I know it can be a pre-glaucoma state....but not always.

Getting the pressure down would be nice though...x
