A virus has been "doing the rounds" in this part of the world (North Lancs) and of course I got/have it. Have you had it? What were the symptoms and how long did it last. ?

Me :- High temperature , sore throat, aching legs. no appetite, lethargy, shivering then sweating, bad thoughts and dreams. Not had owt like this before and I had the N H S flu jab in October.

For two days I was coughing up blood and was convinced I had Lung Cancer For Funks Sake. Such has been the disorienting effect it had on me.

Better ,ish now thanks. Well I hope so anyway!!!!

Glad you're on the mend, grandpajoe. keep warm.
Your symptoms match my husband's a couple of months ago. When the blood started he went to GP and was sent for Xray. This showed 'a significant infection' (Dr's words) of his left lung. 17 days of antibiotics were taken and it cleared completely.
Feel fully better soon Grandpa - I have escaped so far.
I've got it, grandpajoe. Came down with it yesterday, got up this morning to find that I also have an upset tummy to go with it :-(
Oh dear , get well soon Tony.x
Hope I do, thanks Mamya.
Oh dear, sympathies you two. Colds and flu are so common we're supposed to get on with but lawks can it make us feel truly awful.
"lawks"....I suppose it can;-).................."lawks?"
I think it's a word sqaddie, I'm sure I used to read it in Bunty, maybe Victorian in origin??
Love 'Lawks'

lawks-a-mercy
Interjection
(UK) minced oath for Lord have mercy.
I shall brew a large vat of my Beef Tea - a natural cure all.
I'm sure I used to read it in Bunty

Bunty, Prudie !. They never used that word in the Eagle ;-)
I'll have a mug, Mamya please.
You boys missed so much by not reading Bunty ;-0
I was innoculated against 'flu in mid-Nov.. I caught it last week. My Dr. (and local nurses) say that this year the virus has mutated or (they whisper this) the wrong strain was chosen to innoculate against. They have several patients like me who were definitely supposed to be OK. It's the usual sort of thing, but on Mon. I began with Bronchitis as a result and have been really ill until pulling round last night. Still hacking and tiring easily, so confined to barracks and resting every hour or so. Keep hydrated and eat as much as you can (I know it's not much).

My symptoms were yours grandpajoe - until the racking coughing spasms set in. I didn't cough up blood, but could taste it in my throat. Hang on in !
Mmmmmm.
That wasn't at you, jourdain.
I think 'lawks' goes back to the 1700's... sure I've read it in early plays.
It is a tried and tested remedy.

Seriously though , get well soon to all - nasty stuff.
