grr they annoy me. I need to leave a note, but would like it to be at least slightly humerous - any ideas?

Could be very divisive in an office environment. How many people where you work? (It is relevant).
Question Author
about 2-300. Our kitchen area on my floor is also used by people who come in for meetings and leave again

PS it is already divided -some people do their washing up, and some people don't!
some peoplejust put water in their manky cup and leave it on the side (forever....)
For our staff room I did.....

If you are unable to take part in.....Wash and dry your own cup.....please bring a note from your Mum.....x
Like it Gness.

2-300 wow. Not like you can just march into the middle of the office and make an announcement then!
"was your plates, or I crack your skull"

Perhaps not humorous, but probably effective ;-)
In the Gents loo, I once posted a sign saying

'please don't put your cigarette stubs in the urinal, I don't pee in your ashtrays'

those were the good old days. and that is completely not relevant for your situation.
alba in a gents' loo. thinking!
I gave up in the end and took in my own mug etc , washed up after myself and kept my stuff in my office.
The place still looked a mess but at least I knew my stuff was clean and that I wasn't contributing to it.
Hi bednobs, I'm a cleaner & once put this up with the accompanying pic .... Experiment in progress ..... If it walks ... it probably needs washing! http://theblackmaria.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/nutty-prof-lewis1.jpg
Everybody bring in their own cup/mug from home and each be responsible for their own washing up.
People attending meetings should be given disposable plastic/polystyrene ones.
Any dirty plates or cups left in the sink go straight in the skip
Also this pic with message .... Will you look at the mess in here !! http://www.comedy.co.uk/images/library/comedies/180x200/m/mrs_browns_boys.jpg
I doubt any sort of note would work, some people just don't care. Unless you can get the overall manager to put up a notice saying something along the lines of 'use the facility properly, wash up after yourselves or the privilege will be withdrawn.the other option is to nominate one depArtment each day to be responsible for the kitchen. Not much you can do about the visitors though
Come on, what sort of people can't be bothered to wash up their mucky cups etc. they must be pretty sloppy workers!
In answer to your question, Corylus, people in every office I have ever worked in....and that's a fair few.
You would be surprised Corylus. It's been a problem in every office I've ever worked in with me being the one that normally gives in and tidies up because I can't stand the mess. In one office they actually closed the kitchen and installed a vending machine and guess who moaned most about that - the people who caused the problem in the first place
I've see it myself in clinics, filthy tea/coffee stained mugs and mould growing in empty milk bottles piled up by the sink that had plenty hot water! I used to take sterilising solution (as in home brewing) to clean the stuff, if that didn't work the boss used to take the stuff home to wash them in her dishwasher. ? Job Description
Yes it's a problem in all work places. Lazy lazy people.
