Cut Or Colour Hair First?

I have short ish highlighted blonde hair and am looking to achieve the best result from a cut and a colour. I always have my hair cut dry for precision cutting.

There seem to be arguments to cut first and colour first.

Colouring then cutting allows any damaged ends to be removed after the colouring process and allows the hairdresser more hair to 'grab onto' while foiling.

On the downside, if you colour then cut highlighted hair, you can end up with augmented lines which gives you a stripier effect, as you chop into the colour.

Cutting first (dry) then applying the colour might then give the hairdresser a harder job to get a foil over shorter hair. However, it apparently gives a cleaner look.

Does anyone have any advice. The general preference of salons seems to be colour then cut, but several specialists online suggest this is not always the case.

We`ve got a forum at work. It`s not run by the company - just a colleague. If someone posts under the wrong section or there is a duplicate post, a Moderator intervenes and says that they are going to move the thread to the appropriate section. It`s hardly a difficult concept to implement here.
237SJ....LOL.....difficult? You would be surprised ;-)

To prevent discord in future...

Please use the appropriate section,it upsets some users who like order in all things.

mamy...there....that wasn't too difficult...was it?
No,you could have done it.
I would if i had been a Mod.
Mamya, you missed out 'even' :-)
I'm not a Mod.
I n just typed the words.
^ no 'n'
Well....some weeks ago you told us you were...............

I must have been mistaken.
Sqad's wearing his grumpy head la la la.
Not entirely sure why this has caused sqad's BP to rise to dangerous levels?

Anyhoo, to clear things up, as others have said, as mods, we can't move posts from one category to another (nor can we alter them as suggested elsewhere), yes we can advise the OP that perhaps another section would be better for their question, and perhaps, just perhaps I personally might have done if i'd even seen it in the first place. I more than likely wouldn't mind, but if it pleases sqad......

;-)
I very much doubt I ever said that ,I am far too unpredictable to be one.

Just don't like you getting all hot and bothered,.we don't want a repeat of yesterday.
BOO...BP normal.

Just a point of AB discipline.
What difference does it make about the catergory god forbid it spoils your little gangs clique its supposed to be a place people can get help not yor own little mutual admiration society
Lol @ borrower.....
Well 7/14 of OP's questions have been about hair colour and they've all been in B&S, someone should have nipped this in the bud
:-)
Well technically it is in the right category, just not the right section in the category.

Personally I can't see it being a massive issue, it's not like the OP slapped this in say Law or anything!

Sqad- discipline? Behave its Sunday! :p
mamy...your contribution to yesterdays " subject" was ....pathetic.

All you said was "What a kerfuffle".....which really didn't add much to the discussion AND I was not the only ABer to voice..."concern"
