Do you mean blood pressure?
105 is feverish, 53 is dead, 86 is pretty unhealthy too (hypothermic)

Would antibiotics get rid of this rotten cough, even though the cough only attacks every so often with tickle tickle in the throat.
Go to a doctor. Do you know the difference between your temperature and blood pressure?
Question Author
My doctors always said my blood pressure is normal, but hey, was wondering if I've had a temperature this week Zac.
Must ring doctor in morning and get sorted as were off to spain on 30th if I'm not dead by then, lol.
Just want my (our) cough to go by then, and get rid of mucus on our chest.
So your question really is about taking your BP whilst feeling unwell?
Question Author
ummmm, no not really. I feel so messed up at mo, cant think straight!

My question really should have been --will antibiotics get rid of our chesty coughs! Not had much sleep this week and both feel rough.
Rubbed vick over our chests hoping that will help.
If you're concerned about your trip go to a doctor, be warned though you are highly likely to be told it's a virus and antibiotics won't help. Depends on the GP in my experience.

They might...........no harm in trying.

many thanks for replies Abers, much appreciated.
Not sure what antibiotics can cure, so will ring my doc in morning and see what he says. I've not had antibiotics for donkeys yrs and I know doctors persuade you not to take them. Cheers all x
Normal temperature is 37 deg centigrade (36.9 to be precise). High temperature would be around 39/40 but you are obviously mixing up Blood Pressure reading with temperature. Home kits may be alright as a rough guide but a trip to your GP is advisable. Also he could reassure you as to whether you require antibiotics or not. They are no good for viruses if that is what you have.

furrypusscat, will be good if doc gives me and Mr Puss antibiotics, as we feel they will quickly help to remove this awfull cough and lots of catarrh!
Thanks again .
How would your GP know whether your infection was viral or bacterial?
This is one reason why home kits are not necessarily useful all the time - if you take readings and worry about them, your BP can go up. I had two readings at the GP practice on Tuesday last week - the first one was high (I'd just arrived and had had to rush) but an hour later, the second one was perfectly acceptable. Bllod pressure's got nothing to do with your temperature - go see the doc, to get your chest sorted out. You might need a prescription, home cough medicine is all very well but won't get to the root of the problem.
You could always try a steam inhalation putting a few menthol crystals or drops of olbas oil in bowl of boiling water sitting over it with towel over head and bowl. That will help to clear congestion and catarrh.

Sorry for late reply!

Sqad, I wonder too , how the doctor can tell whether its a viral or bacterial.
My head is still banging through keep coughing my lungs up. havent got sore throat, its just this constant coughing given me a headache. I cant bring anything off my chest as it seems a very dry cough to me.
Cant wait to see doc or speak to surgery in morning and see what they advise. neither of us have ever shared such a bad cough.
Mr Puss has never smoked, and i have a good chance that I'll never smoke again as one puff almost makes me choke!
Cheers Abers, many thanks for all your good advice!
Let us know how you get on, what the doc says it is!

\\\How would your GP know whether your infection was viral or bacterial?\\\

That was a rhetorical question..........answer being in the majority of cases, he wouldn't........he/she would just make an educated guess.
