This is simple - I hope.

I am going to a wedding in a cuppla weeks and my doctor will be there too. He is a big friendly guy, however, how do I greet him. By his first name or Dr Surname.

Thanks for any answers. JjCon

He is the full cousin of my friend (groom's mother)
What do you call him when you to to the surgery?
Do you address him by his Christian name at the surgery ?
Snap Tilly
nice to see you Dr ....
Call him what you normally call him, if he wants you to call him by his christian name he'll let you know. Have a nice time conn.
Both thinking along the same lines, seeks.
What does he call you when you see him professionally? If he calls you Mrs/Miss/Ms then suggest that as you are together at a social gathering he uses your first name.....oh, please call me Jenny.....then he'll probably respond by telling you to call him Peter, or whatever his first name is.

Good luck,and enjoy the wedding.
Why do you have to call him anything? Just say Hi/Hello, how are you/Nice to see you.
You call him..."Sir" ...and then you curtsy.
lol @ sqad
Sqad this isn't you, it's an NHS doctor :-)
Prudie......LOL
if the receptionist is invited as well you probably won't be able to get near him
Breezily say "Hallo Dr Brown!" and see how he reacts - he'll very likely say "oh no, call me Jim". I used to call my GP by his first name when we met at events outside the surgery.
Just call him Doctor of course ! I meet my Quack in Tescos quite often and always call him Doc...its never been a problem.
Just call him Dave
Why treat a doctor any differently to anyone else? If you usually call him Dr Whatever, then continue to do that.
