Don't want to put anyone off their lunch but have had an upset tummy since Sunday and not eaten anything. Managed to eat a bowl of rice crispies last night, but woke a few hours later with a very urgent need of the loo, and as Kenny's mum (South Park) described it I had explosive diarrhoea. Now feeling queasy and tummy gurgling, should I try to eat something or not? It feels like I would be sick if I did but as my insides must be empty would it be better to give it something to work on?

Try something boring like dry toast.

Are you keeping your fluids up?

Hope you're better soon x
Clear fluids for a while. Clear soups, OXO in warm water, Bovril etc.
Then try something light, like a slice of dry toast later.
Part of the feeling sick might now be down to just being absolutely starving.

I'd try a small amount of dry toast or something.
Keep liquid input high, and you can forgo solids for a little while longer if it makes you nauseous.

P.S. Isn't diarrhoea always explosive by its very nature ?

Kenny's mum sent a note to school saying he won't be in today as he has 'explosive diarrhoea'! This was a real pebble dash job - although mostly liquid now!
water and dry toast or plain pasta, when you start to feel better keep your food as bland as possible.

hope you feel better soon
try dry toast little nibbles of it. they recommend ginger biscuits for morning sickness so maybe they would help aswell?. hope u feel betta soon :/
I'm not saying this will work, but when my boss was ill with the squits on holiday in Turkey, a local doctor said he should have peaches and coca-cola. Apparently it sorted his tummy out in 24 hours
a sugary fizzy drink shaken to get some of the bubbles out and something bland, carbohydrate and salty is usually well tolerated. Don't have diet fizz, it must be the sugary kind, ginger ale is good. If you don't feel that you can eat then don't but keep sipping liquid.
canary, diarrhoea isn't always explosive...not going ino any further detail
Add a wee pinch of salt to 7Up to make " flat" 7Up and use that as a drink till you feel better.
I alwas drink lemonade. I find it is the best for the sickness as well. Hope you feeling better soon. Brenda x
My panacea in these cases is tonic water.
As a chronic sufferer due to a malabsorption condition, I agree with Wolfgang's second post.

Sounds like me the other week, tummy bugs been doing the rounds at work and mine came on from feeling a bit icky Thursday night to Friday just awful, I couldn't keep anything in my system until Wednesday as it send my bowel condition into overdrive, really not nice.

I didn't try and each much and let it run its course and drank lots of fluid and got lots of sleep - took me a good few days after for things to settle properly and get rehydrated properly and such.

Keep it easily digestible and not too rich or sweet, feel better soon.
If I have diarrhoea, once the worst is over, I follow the BRAT diet which I found on google:

Bananas
Rice or mashed potatoes (not mashed with butter or milk)
Apple sauce
Toast (dry white bread or dry crackers)
If you can stomach it, a glass of port is an old fashioned cure for the runs.

Otherwise stick to liquids until the problem passes.
