Men look away now, lol. (unless you're a doctor!)

What would cause a woman who always has normal periods, to start one but for some reason this one is incredibly heavy. I mean waking up and finding she has to strip sheet, mattress protector, clothing and then having to change tampon/pad within 15 minutes of previous fresh ones? Bad tummy pains but that is normal. Anything to worry about? TIA x

How old are you?
My periods got incredibly heavy when I first started the menopause (age 38).
Ive no idea!
I was going to say menopause also...or peri-menopause.
No idea, my periods became lighter and shorter when I began the menopause.

Monitor the situation and if no improvement in 24hrs drink wine!

Who said the question was about me?

(Ok it is,lol)

I just assumed that periods became less frequent and lighter.
one of the more memorable perimenopause symptoms I had was a 30 day heavy bleed like this, aged around 42. Apparently its not uncommon. I had to get medical support to stop it (depo provera injection) but this was 20 years ago and I am sure there are less drastic methods of dealing with it now. The other possibility might be an early miscarriage. Either way nothing to worry about but I would be getting some medical advice if it doesn't ease after a couple of days.
I agree with both Daffy and Pasta - that is how it has been for me anyway

Ohh, well i had quite a shock when I woke up - Ive even had to scrub the mattress itself. Ok, will see how it goes today. Thankyou : )
Or could be fibroids.
I was always super regular...but then had a few bad experiences. But it was only a couple of times, thankfully.
My periods have been really heavy in the last few years. I can actually feel the blood flowing out. I have started using a pampers baby dry mat thing on the bed. It is mighty annoying.

The things us ladies put up with.
Well......one heavy period......no big deal.

However if this becomes a frequent occurrence with your periods, say 3 consecutive periods, then seek medical help.

One off.....hormonal dysfunction

Recurring episodes....commonest cause is fibroids, then dysfunctional uterine bleeding, then endometriosis.

Wait and see.
sqad - Ibuprofen - when we are watching and waiting?
LOL....exactly........;-)

Thankyou Sqad x

Daft question I know, but I assume a woman wouldnt really know if she was just having a very heavy period or a very early miscarriage would she?
Snowy.....good question.

Se might not as you rightly say BUT if she had missed a period, felt pregnant then it would be a good guess.

Hmmm, just for a split second wondered if that was the case with me. Mine are never exact to the day, but roughly every 30-35 days or so. No, would be almost impossible for that to have happened......
Yep menopause
