My husband has been having trouble with swallowing for about a week now. We weren't sure if it was his medication or a symptom of his condition. Last night, he was led in bed and the dog was licking his face, he couldn't catch his breath and started coughing/choking on his saliva. It was awful.
Anyway, today his tongue was coated in yellow stuff. He's been to the dentist this morn who said it looks as though he has a throat infection. His throat is covered in septic spots and his saliva looks quite frothy. Can you have tonsillitis without having a sore throat and can it cause problems with swallowing?
He is seeing the Nurse Practitioner in a couple of hours.
Doesn' sound like tonsillitis as that is extremely painful,it sounds like stomatitis which could well be secondary to his drug therapy
I will be interested to know wha t the nurse thinks.
Thanks for your rapid response. I'll let you know later. We're hoping it's an infection and not part of his condition. He has recently started taking Pregabalin so we weren't sure there was a possibility it could have been that (well I was thinking). He's expecting a phone call today from the Pain Management Consultant so we'll see what he says too.
I saw your post about you cat :( So awful when animals get poorly and old. Fingers crossed he'll be ok, hugs to you xx
