Looking good

Why do people say that someone looks good "for their age" ? A person either looks good or does n`t. How old they are is immaterial.

I think age can be relivant. Take Barbara Windsor, just by looking at her would you think she is 75 years old? She looks good for her age.

Both my Mum and MIL look great for their age. Both have figures that someone 30 years younger would be proud of. I see many ladies their age and you can see that things have headed south.

The worst part is when it is used as a chat up line ...how do they know your age!! You could look older than your age!

In the Community where I live, there is a lady of 96 and she looks younger than all the rest of us and is very active as well.
She has NEVER indulged in any artificial means of looking younger.

because if you look like the majority of folk your age you are average - if you look younger then you look good. (substitute better, younger, less haggard) - but only if you perceive that looking younger than your age is a good thing.
