My opinion....only 3 weeks to go. I should wait to get the OK from your consultant.
devil, speaking as one who's been there - don't be in a hurry. I was told to do very little for twelve weeks, and it was certainly worth it, I had no trouble at all post-op. My SIL gave me sound advice too, to take 3 months out of my life to recover from the operation, and I pass that on to anyone else. Don't exert yourself - it'll pay dividends in the long run. Friends of mine who started hoovering or pushing supermarket trolleys too early too a great deal longer to recover that I did.

okidoke i'll hang on!! thank you both for the advice, i've not done any hoovering or heavy lifting so i'll carry on recouperating :-)
walking is good for you, I wasn't allowed to drive for the twelve weeks either, but I walked a lot.

yes been for a nice walk not too far, it's a shame the weather is so horrendous :-( be nice to go for a walk on a greek island haha!!! not driving till 6wk check could'nt do an emergency stop if i tried!!
I found myself being very protective of my wound - something primitive kicked in while I was repairing myself inside!

I have a very small incision and the scar is almost invisible he's done an excellant job :-)) my stomach is still quite swollen and bruised but i suppose it's still early days yet, otherwise i'm impressed with my recovery but i won't overdo it, my body might rebel haha
Good luck with it - you'll be a new woman, it was something I certainly wouldn't have chosen to do (given the choice), but tbh it was one of the best things I've ever done, healthwise!

I know you addressed this to sqad who is our resident consultant/gp/medical expert but as a Yoga teacher (of some 33years now) I would not let you attend a class until you'd seen a consultant even for a vaginal hysterectomy (and then with some warnings on some stretches) and certainly not for an abdominal one. Some Yoga stretches are more dynamic than you realise. I'd probably say 8 or 9 weeks for light stretches and more like twelve for full on stuff.

Thas great advise yogasun, i do love doing my yoga but i will take your advice and hold off, i'll be all scrunched up inside and stiff as a board haha but don't want to make any thing worse! thanks again
