Or will you buy whatever is cheapest? If you buy cheap, what have you had that you would recommend?

I am a label snob, can't help it.

No, I will try cheaper brands and revert back to the snobby stuff if the cheap brand is crap.
I buy my cereals from Aldi.
The only thing i won't compromise on is instant coffee, it has to be Nescafe. I've tried other brands, and 'value' coffee, and I really can't take to them.

Everything else is fair game- if i can buy it Smart Price or whatever, I will do.
Daddies brown sauce and Heinz ketchup have proved irriplaceable.
When it comes to Pot Noodles it has to be Knorr.
Agree with B00 ...Cheap coffee is nasty

Ooh Mick, I've just claimed to be a label snob but I do buy Asda Ketchup. It's really nice.
Well I wouldn't buy Tesco value anything so I suppose I am.

I would never, ever buy smart price meat. That would be a definite no no, I'd rather be without.
I don't tend to find that I am a food label snob unless it's chocolate. I don't even like dairy milk that much either. I normally like the high quality stuff!
But everything else food wise I am okay with.
I'm funny about buying cheap washing powder and cosmetic products (i.e. make up, shampoo, toothpaste, etc)
i've bough smart price meat, and still around to tell the tale, it's ok, nothing wrong with it.

*twitch, twitch*
I'm very much a food label snob... if something looks good though i'll buy it.
No generally not a food label snob except about a few things Heinze Mayonaise, Alta Rica instant coffee, Douwe Eggberts filter and Yorkshire Tea are about my lot, other than that it's whatever is reduced, on offer or value.
where we buy labels, it's because we've tried the own label/cheap version, and they don't come up to scratch.
not a label snob, wouldn't want to be, and do not have the money to be.
When i got my own flat...i had to compromise on things!!!

I get whatever i fancy now....we so use tesco or adsas own but rarely tesco value or smart price...unless its chopped tomatoes or something i dont mind that

It HAS TO BE HP brown sauce....mmmmmmm and i dont like supermarkets own fizzy juice xxx
We dont buy any "own Brands" 90% is very poor quality, we stick to what we know!
Not really M&S baked beans are lovely and 50p a tin where Heinz are about 65p. I won't compromise on coffee, Kenco Columbian is over £4 now and I've still to find another cheaper one I like. I look out for cheaper teabags Lidl and Aldi have nice biscuits too. Not keen on their cereal though, like eating cardboard.
I try own brands or the stuff from Aldi - if the children like it I keep buying it, if they don't then I don't buy it anymore (they love Adli ketchup (it's too tomatoey for me), their fruit juice, some of their crisps, jam). I buy Asda own brand pop, pizza, cheese, bacon, etc. My biggest bargain is the chicken factory shop which supplies Asda, Morrisons and the Co-op - I save a fortune there.
Asda smartprice butter is indistinguisable (sp?) from lurpak IMHO
I lied!! We buy Sainsbury's chicken joints, a great raw snack for the Wolfies and we buy Morrisons own minced beef (Naturally fed raw) great for our little Sammy the Shi-tzu :))
