on discharge from hospital after an op letter it says "on examination DNS."
what does that mean

no, it actually is mr 'nobs who had an op on his nose

It could mean a number of things - depending on what surgery you underwent. Are you willing to share more information?
Did Not smell (since op was on nose)
possibly Deviated Nasal Septum....

oh! could be right, but he was having it corrected, and it was on the discharge notes so i hope not!

Diagnosis now sorted/settled/stablised?

Could they be initials of who examined him or something like Day Nurse Supervisor, Duty something Surgeon? Found Director of Nursing Services but guessing that is an admin role rather than any hands on nursing care.

District Nursing Services if anything needed seeing to after?

Oh, if you google it and nose it all seems to relate to deviated nasal septum! What did he have done?
