What an extraordinary story, a wife can use her husbands frozen sperm to have his children, who in fact knew nothing about them, he then had to pay £100,000 to help in their upbringing.

Can this be fair, and should the law now be changed?

1. Yes she did.
2. No, it isn't.
3. Altered, tightened or applied, depending upon which of those is more appropriate.
I think the law has been greatly tightened up since this happened.

ummmm

Thanks for the link, I didn't realise that the story had already been posted, sorry.
Strange my dad had 4 children and then disappeared and didnt pay 1p maintenance, perhaps as adults we should go after him now...when is it too late? 18 years worth of pocket money if nothing else!!
Tilly if your father tried to get in touch now how would you react
I really dont know, but tbh I really cant imagine this is likely to happen.
Very wrong, if he consented then fine!.........if not, then he should not have to pay!.......
That's absolutely not on.
Surely it should have been illegal in the first place? It's his sperm to use as he saw fit.
Does it say how she managed to convince the quacks to use it to inseminate her?
It was illegal - she forged his signature and gave them some story about him being out of the country at the time of insemination.

Thankfully he loves the children and is prepared to be a dad to them.

The article I read said that she only contacted him when one of the kids was ill - so maybe she didn't start off meaning to fleace him... maybe she just was desperate to have kids and her ex-hubb was the easiest/safest/most obvious route?

But I think the law should change to allow the un-witting male a let out in these situations.

Wasn't there a case a few years ago where the girl used the sperm in a used condom to get pregnant and the guy ended up paying? Again - WRONG!

x
Very wrong. The ex-wife forged his signature and falsified documents. She's devious and manipulative! And now that she has fallen into debt, its like she's pawning off her kids! £100,000 is a lot, considering he also have kids of his own.
She committed fraud by forging his signature.

She obtained money by false pretences.

Are there no laws on the statute book to deal with this woman?
