Can you please advise? My grand-daughter, age 10, is forever having time off from school because `she doesn`t feel well` and again she is off to-day, admittedly when my O/H and I visited yesterday she had a temperature and a sore throat, but other times I think she is just too lazy, like her mother, whom deserted them over a year ago for another woman. Could it be she is pining for the bitch, or could it be tonsillitis?

carlton....sorry....that is a difficult one with the limited story that you have given. I suppose it could be tonsillitis, but I suspect that you are asking if it could be recurrent tonsillitis, indicating need for removal........I cannot say carlton.

As for the emotional bit...as you know....I don´t do emotion, but there will be plenty of posters, mainly female, who will give you advice.

Keep us posted.
Pining (for bitches or otherwise) is not usually a source of a high-temparature and sore-throat.

This is more usually caused by judgemental old fossils who ought to take more time to consider the poor girls current frame of mind.........or, tonsillitis.
does she see the mum at all? No matter how old you are you always need your mum, and it could be part of the reason she is "feeling unwell"
however, i know you are worried, but it's up to the dad to talk to her about it i would have thought
If she's got a sore throat and a temperature she shouldn't be at school.

Very very unlikely to have a psychological cause.

If:
1. her Mum has vanished
2. all she hears about her Mum is that she is a 'bitch'
3. she is accused of being too lazy and like her bitch of a mother

then I expect that she 'feels unwell' quite a lot of the time.
I would.
She's 10 for goodness sake.

My O/H thinks it could be that her body is starting to go through `changes` even at as early as 10yrs. Her `mother` last visited her and her little bruv at xmas.
'Changes' Don't give you a sore throat.
You are all assuming that she has a "sore throat"......has she?
Question Author
ladyalex, we never discuss or make comments about her mother in front, of or anywhere near her. WHAT DO YOU THINK WE`RE LIKE for Gods sake?
TBH from what you are describing, this episode sounds like a genuine illness, but we only have your thoughts about the pthers, so there could be a psychologoical element. I know this is uncalled for advice, but as much as you might hate the mum for presumably causing your son (?) a lot of heartache, she will always be the mother of your grandchildren, and as such it will probably help things if you remain civil about her when you are around them (perhaps you are?) She has clearly hurt you a lot too, but you have to remember there are always 2 sides to a story, and no-one knows what goes on in a marriage apart from the peope in it
sqad, carlton mentions that symptom in his post - no-one is assuming it.
Thanks for making things a little clearer carlton (and again this is uncalled for advice, but it dosen't seem right not to talk about her mother at all either (perhaps she really wants to?)
Have her reviewed by the GP and discuss with the attendence officer at school etc... I would imagine it's nothing to do with 'laziness'... Especially as it's the parents decision whether she stays off school or not.
bednobs.....you have mistaken what I meant.

I know that carlton mentioned it in his post BUT....my point is........because she says she has a sore throat..........is she telling the truth?....that is my point.

How many times have kids said.

"Ive got a headache"
" I feel sick"
"I don´t feel well"
"I´ve got stomach ache"
"I´ve got a sore throat"

That is my point....because she says she has it deosnt mean that she has.....we are al assuming that she has.
Question Author
When we saw her yesterday, she said that her throat hurt, so I naturally assumed it was a sore throat and she had a job to speak clearly.
Her GP has just visited her and prescribed a medicine, my son rang 2 mins ago.
Subject closed, thanks all.
Aggressive avatar, aggressive tone towards the end of the question... are you sure she's the one with the problem here?

Whatever is wrong with her, poor girl, she has my sympathy.
salla.....not like you.........his daughter in law has run off with another woman, leaving his son with a child.....that would P!SS me off.
Of course it would p1ss anyone off, but another man, another woman.... does that really matter? Like I said, I do feel empathy and sympathy for the girl. But I did find I was quite taken aback by Carlton's last couple of sentences.
It looks as though the rottweiler's gone - that's better!

Carlton, I do understand your fury and resentment at (is it your daughter or daughter-in-law?). But 10 is an awful age for this to happen to her, she's bound to have some symptoms & reaction, somatic or otherwise.
salla....carlton is my era........people do run off....heterosexually would have been bad enough, but homosexually would have been unheard of. I do not want to go into whether she went off with a woman is worse than running off with a man TODAY, but it was in carlton´s era.

This is AB and if that is how carlton feels about his daughter in law, he has every right to express it.
Question Author
Sorry about that Salla, but when I think or discuss her I just get in a bad mood, so I have returned to ````jelly people``` avatar to settle down again until I can find a nice one to replace it with, specially for you.
carlton.....oi!.....dont let these woman trample all over you.......use the Avatar that you want........bu99er them!
