I have called in sick (2nd in a row) due to feeling so exhausted from non stop cough. It is genuine and I do feel rotten so why do i feel do guilty for taking time off? My boss is NOT giving me a tough time bout it and is supportive

Don't feel guilty, you're better off at home and, consider the consequences of passing yuor germs on to workmates. Get better soon. JD
Agree with mdoo...... Guilt will make you feel worse, and you've nothing to be guilty of anyway. So relax x

Thanks all - it's daft I KNOW -! I was born with an "overActive guilt gland" methinks.
I'm the same. The one day I left work ill a few years ago made me feel so guilty I almost went back to work. For me I think it's because I'm so rarely ill that whenever someone else calls in sick, I don't believe them and so when I do, I think they must not believe me either.

But your boss obviously knows you're honest and not pulling a fast one so take the whole week off if you want. Feel better soon. x
I agree with jd, no one at work would thank you if you gave them your germs. And that would mean more people off work ! Hope you get better soon, I'm just getting over my cough ... four weeks in all ... thank goodness.

No haha! But the guilt gland us there all the same! I rang in again today and am thinking bout going to dr.
If you are genuinely ill and can not physically go to work, your conscience is clear. Some people ring in sick for the slightest thing and DO NOT feel any guilt! So get back to bed, hot drink and stick on Jeremy Kyle and think to yourself "My life aint that bad after all!!"
don't feel guilty about it. Go to the docs or the chemist and I hope you feel better soon x
