He has to want to stop - otherwise there is nothing anyone can do.
First steps are GP for a drug to help him stop drinking - there are a few different ones available, then the AA for support.
But if he doesn't want to stop, he won't.

doesnt matter what religion he is, he must want to get help to stop, otherwise you could say something and he will tell you to f yourself and to f off. Alcahol is a drug, so it would be the same if it was heroin or whiskey. you can try talking about it to him but im pretty sure he will say its "under control"
