Best thing to do for thighs...

Hi everyone,

I am not overweight, I am 5ft 1", and weigh 8st 1lb with a BMI of 21. Lately my clothes have felt a little tight, only around the thigh areas of my clothes and no where else. can anyone tell me what is best to firm and tone them up because at the min they are just not frim and a little wobbly!!!

I was going to do the special K diet to drop a dress size, but apprently after looking in to you must have a BMI of 25 to take part so i decided not to do this as mine is under.

any advice would be much apprecited, as I say its only my thighs i would like to work on

TIA xx

You could be retaining water, try some water retention tablets, they're cheap enough from health stores. A little aerobic exercise will help too, that should shift your flabby bits. I love Davina McCall's DVD, though she does my head in, lol!

Hi Laurenm82 - lucky thing you sound super slim to me - I'm only an inch and a half taller and a stone heavier!! However I would def recommend Body Pump if your local fitness centre run classes (I can never motivate myself to exercise at home) it has really toned me up and helped me lose my baby weight (2 stone) x

Thanks upsy daisy! I know I am not actually overweight so i am quite lucky in a sense, its just frustrating with the summer coming up and having awful thighs when i want to wear shorts lol!!!

Can I just ask you, how long was it befoe you noticed the change in your body?? as I am like you and cant motivate myself to do it at home so hopefull i will be going to classes two times per week x

Toning and the ability to spot reduce fat is a myth. If you think your legs are getting a bit flabby do about 30-40 mins cardio 3 times a week or try 20 mins of High intensity interval training. Also get down to a gym and work out your legs Squats, Stiff legged deadlifts, lunges and calf raises will work your legs and your core muscles to a certain extent. You will not get built like arnie doing these excercises as you need to get a good diet sorted and girls can't produce enough Testrosterone to get massive naturally. However you will hopefully see the fat fall away from all over your body and your leg muscles will get a bit bigger and leaner and clearer to see(this is the "toning effect" you seek) A good diet will help you much better.

Hi again laurenm82, I found a difference after about 4 weeks of going to body pump twice a week. I find trying to cut fat down in my diet works for me, so the two combined really helped! Best of luck x
