Swimming is excellent all round exercise.

But celebs or fitness trainers can't sell dvds and books about it, can they?

yes over time it tones your body and with less pain. :-) and its enjoyful. I only used to go once a week but I used to do 50 lengths in an hour
I have bad arthritis and go swimming twice a week and feel much much better after each session.I would go every day if I had the chance. Its wonderful not too feel the pain when swimming as the water takes the weight of your joints, plus its an all round exercise.g.
Yes ...brilliant ... I used to swim every week for years with a friend .Then ..bless her, she upped and died on me ! So I stopped going for a long time . I am like garner and suffer with arthritis and recently I have taken it up again and go with my brother who also has dodgy joints . We don't go regularly but when we do I really feel the benefit of it .I would go every day if I could .
Doesn't matter how many lengths you can do and how fast you can do them ..OK when you are young ..but at my age a gentle breast stroke up and down the pool works wonders for my aches and pains .
I've just congratulated Hitler on his/her thread, as he/she's started going swimming again.

I swim a lot & it's so good for body & mind. It can also help you sleep later.

I dive in expecting to do a few lengths, but before I know it I've done up to 32! If you take it nice & slow & try not to exert yourself too much, you'll soon feel the benefits.
P.S. Maybe some celebs are worried about getting their hair wet, or showing off their cosmetic operation scars!
Wonderful exercise for all ages. It's surprising how you build your strength up. I am a pensioner and suffer from various complaints, but 50 lengths a couple of times a week makes me feel a lot better. I can outswim one of my children now!!!!
